what country (besides your) do you most liked to visit?

I love to travel but for some time now i haven't been able to.

The country i most liked to visit was Switzerland, i'm a sucker for those landscapes, the mountains, the lakes, i got to rent a car and cross the country. Even if i really didn't like their food very much or even found people very friendly (except for the Italian part of the country) it's one gorgeous country

Germany has been quite neat, as the country is so big (compared to where I live) it is really quite varied in .. Everything. From landscapes, to people, things to do, etc.

France has been cool as well, for similar reasons, plus I have been there a lot more over the years..

Of all the countries I've visited - USA, Iceland, France, Spain, Germany, Hong Kong, Brazil, Italy, and Singapore to name a few - my joint favorites are New York City in the USA and Hong Kong.

 

New York City, simply because of its whole atmosphere, busy commuters, bright lights, gorgeous tall skyscrapers, great food, and the whole expensive vibe about it, as well as it being an American flagship city.

Hong Kong since it's my home country so of course I'd feel super comfortable visting there, or even permanently living there if I could. The traditional Chinese stalls, advanced technology combined with the olden day structures, is quite the culture shock at first, but being Hong Kong Chinese, it will always be home.

man if you think NY is expensive visit Switzerland, just the bigmac is an extravagance.

Japan (don't ask just take one look at my pfp)

Italy but specifically Rome and Florence I absolutely love ancient Roman history

New Zealand seems like a hell of a place to explore yes bit by the LoTR bug

Australia I've always wanted to see Sydney

Italy the north with the lakes is incredible.

That's an interesting index.

 

I've visited Hong Kong like I said and that was expensive, so it's suprising to see HK so low on the index. Although, I don't eat McDonald's that often anyway and when I do, it's never a Big Mac.

Places I've been to/lived in: 

Scotland

England

France

Switzerland 

Japan

China

Germany

 

Favourite countries: Japan and Scotland. 

As I'm a real sucker for mountainous islands which means that as you can probably guess, with the Scottish highlands and various Japanese mountain ranges, they have an extreme advantage over others. I find both Japanese and Scottish people to be polite, nice/pleasant to interact with, fun to be around and lively in the correct situations. To be fair, in the few years I've lived in Japan, not one person has called me a "Gaijin" so that probably helps plus as I was a delinquent when I was young, people I hung around in Japan were considerably more aggressive than the typical Japanese. Oh, also the ability to slander everyone in Scotland without anyone taking offence is great.

Hehe, that would apply for me in Japan :P. Although what my nationality/where I'm from is "its complicated" (i.e. nationality/citizenship, ethnicity, place of birth are all different, not to mention how I've already have had citizenship in 3 different country), as I was born in Japan and did spend a nice chunk of childhood in Japan, whenever I go back to Japan, it feels like I'm going home.

For me, I was born and raised in Scotland, I've never resided in Hong Kong before, both my parents originate from Hong Kong, so it's a weird origin story for sure! At heart, Hong Kong is still truly home, visited there for two weeks back in 2015 and it was a fantastic two weeks. :)

Cook Islands. Lovely people, very warm weather and extremely cheap fish. Talking like $50 for a whole tuna.

Born in Japan and citizenship got downgraded to residency (*cough cough* Grandfather was one of the first captains of a certain navy)

Ethnically a different country to both Japan and Britain

Currently a British citizen

 

Yeah, I don't think there is really that many people that can beat my story :).

it's a famous price index used a lot because they serve the exact same product in the exact same restaurants all over the world, so it's about the best apples to apples comparison you can get. I don't even like fast food very much

btw countries i visited:

Jamaica - boy that island is amazing, people are not very friendly

Cuba - loved it, amazing beaches, Havana is incredible

Dominican Republic - mostly went there for the beach. Lots of slums.

Spain - lovely country with lovely people, good food

Italy - car loving nuts, friendly in some parts of the country, lots of culture. Amazing food, OMG

USA - weird country, but i loved the big city, small city contrast. People can be very friendly and the most obnoxious depending on where you visit

Canada - it's just like USA but far north :) 

Egypt - great culture, people are the worst

Morocco - it's there i guess, didn't leave much of an impression. Food is weird.

Tunisia - I never expected to see a coliseum there, the desert is amazing. People are nice for the most part.

France - I didn't care much for the Frenchmen :( Food is ok,

Switzerland - Weird country, lots of foreigners and people are really different depending on what part you visit. Beautiful.

 

visit other countries but only a city briefly so those don't count.

as far as i remember it was way more expensive in Switzerland. And yes i eat that crap in both NY too ? (btw the portion sizes are absolutely ridiculous in the US, so it's even cheaper. "Is that coke for me to drink or to bathe on?")

The only other country I have been to was Canada since I was on vacation with my family near the border. We didn't have passports but they let us through anyway, we there for about 30 minutes just driving around. Was a bit harder getting back in to the United States.
