What Fluid That Isnt Water

DocDave

hey

I am looking for something to replace the Distilled water in my cooling loop. It's mostly PVC pipes with Steel RAD

Was thinking about car coolant or something along those lines.

Thanks

pvc pipes with a steel rad? what kind of cooling loop uses PVC pipes? :o

anyway, car coolant might work, tough it is recommended that you don;t use glycol based coolants for pc cooling.

wodka does work surprisingly well, tough i wouldn;t recommend it either.

what's wrong with plane old distilled water?

I guess its PVC piping and I am guessing is steel rad. I am not sure tbh. And I was just wonder what I could use.

While this isn't exactly recommended, it does work.

well, companies like Mayhems and EK make dedicated coolants in all kinds of colours, viscosities and transparancies, tough that is kinda mainstream.

you could always mix one up yourself, using distilled wtare, some biocide and a dye.

Water is your best option, that or something specific to PC watercooling from a company such as EK.

Back in the day I literally used 50/50 premix In my loop. It did surprisingly well. Hard on soft-tube tho. I imagine it isn’t good for pvc.

Wait, can you post a picture of your loop? What does a PVC pipe and steel cooling loop look like anyway?

I second that, I would like to see it as well.

WHY not use just water?

For optimal cooling typical water based cooling in industrial coils use Ethylene Glycol or Propylene Glycol mixed with water at ratio typically between 20% and 80% (of glycol) for it's lower freezing point allowing for more cooling capacity. But you cannot use PVC or CPVC with Glycol. You need to stay with Copper or Alum, don't remember for Stainless steel
