Forza Horizon 2 to be delisted from Xbox One store in September

AlTech

Forza Horizon 2 will be delisted on Xbox One store on September 30th of this year as the music licenses in the 2014 game have expired.

The game will not be available for purchase after this date from the Xbox One Store and customers who have already purchased the game will still be able to download it and play it.

Forza Horizon 2 is an open-world racing game for Xbox One and Xbox 360 which takes you all over Italy. The title launched in 2014 and garnered great reviews. However, as is often the case with racing games, music licenses expire and it's easier to stop selling them than go through the renewal process. At the end of next month, Forza Horizon 2 will be removed from the Xbox Store. If you already own the game, you can still download it even after it's delisted. New customers just won't be able to purchase a digital copy. There are plenty of discs lying around at retailers like Amazon and Gamestop.

This is what Turn 10 Studios Brian Ekberg had to say:

Quote

A heads up for the Forza community: Forza Horizon 2 will reach 'end of life' status on September 30. That means that the game and its associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase. After September 30, players who own Forza Horizon 2 will still able to download and play the game and its associated content as normal. However, Forza Horizon 2 and its DLC will no longer be for sale. Forza Horizon 2 is currently available as part of August Games With Gold so, if you haven't played it already, now is a great time to grab it.

It's unfortunate that it won't be available for purchase officially anymore. People who still want to buy it can probably pick up a used copy at retail stores.

GTA 4 also recently had an update, that removed a ton of good music from it, because the 10year music licences expired.

IMO better to stop selling it than release a patch that removes the musics. At least people who have bought the game and people who buy it second-hand can still experience the game as it was ment to be experienced (even though music is probably one of the minor points of the experience).

No?!
It takes place at the French/Italian, southern Border. Nice is one of the south western parts...

Though it seems like its not a realistic map but more a fantasy one.

And getting the Game isn't a Problem. Getting the DLC for new interests is however!

AS you can not get the DLC, you can not experience some parts of the Game...

Can't you buy a boxed retail copy of the premium edition or whatever?

Storm Island and the Porsche DLC isn't part of that.

So you're still missing things....

A limited "Full experience Edition" would have been nice. Or a good sale.

Porsche right now is on sale for 1,5€ or so.

The Rest isn't...

It's also worth noting that the game was free with Gold on Xbox this month. Nice of them to give it away before they pull it.

It's sad that stuff like this has to happen. Limited digital distribution lives really hurt our ability to keep historical games around. Not a massive deal for this specific case I don't think, but it's still something scary to think about ling term.

It still causes people to pirate games, and more than likely the music as well.

As a whole definitely. This kind of shit is why I buy directly from the artists wherever possible.
