Do you guis as your main OS still use Windows7???

Einfach_Yannic

Hello and good afternoon, today i wanted to ask what OS youre using(especially if you use Win7 in 2018).I`m for example use Windows7 on my main fixed PC Because:

1-I dont have an SSD,``only`` 2 Western Digital blue drives wich run at 7200RPM and on Windows 10 i had some problems that sometimes the system locks it self up ore it takes more than a second to go in to the windows explorer or to go into the start menu...Windows 7 on the other hand is even with out an ssd fast as hell on an HDD(espially on an 7200rpm one)

2-The Ram and CPU usage on Windows 7 is Much lower than on Windows 10,i have ``only`` an I3-6100 (340CB) and 8 gb ddr4 and on windows 7 in BF1 fore example i get much better GPU Usage and more FPS Than on Windows 10 and also the Ram usage on Windows 10 in idle was 2-3GB,instead on Windows 7 it was 800mb-1,2GB.

3-Windows Aero Glass,i dont know about you guis but i LOVE the Aero glass effects!i my appinion it makes Windows7 one of the prittiest OS`s on History!(This point is only an personal prefferens but i includet it because it was important to me)

4-I dont need directX12,this depents ALOT from user to user but i only have an 4G RX 460 on my main fixed system wich is wayyyy to humble to run modern DirectX12 AAA Titles like BF1 ore TheCrew2(i made a Video where i showed the issius that i had with my RX460 in TheCrew2:

Windows is for solitaire

That's the one thing I don't use it for.

I'll use Win 7 to its last dying gasp then use it in a VM in Linux for programsI can't use or find equivalents for in Linux.

Recruit my Aunt Fanny Mae! I just need to finish building my new build and get it working first, then start learning how to use Linux, probably Mint Cinnamon.

I use windows 7 when I have to for some gaming or video editing. Otherwise I use Ubuntu 18.04 because it's nice and a big portion of my games (Dirt rally, just about anything made with the Source engine, Bioshock, Borderlands 2, Terraria, the list goes on...) are supported without even needing Wine.

Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen R7 3700X @4.4Ghz, GPU: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT, RAM: 32 GB (2x 8GB Trident Z Royal + 2x 8GB TForce Vulkan Z) @3000Mhz, Motherboard: ASRock B550m Steel Legend, Storage: 1x WD Black 1Tb NVMe (boot) + 1x Samsung 860 QVO 1Tb SSD (storage), Case: Thermaltake Core V21, Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

Windows 10 in combination with a HDD is indeed a horrid experience.  Not that it's much better on an SSD, but at least it's not nearly as slow.

Earlier this year I moved my rigs from Win7 Pro to Win7 Ultimate (so I could use Bitlocker to give me at least some degree of security) and plan to stick with that until Win7 goes End of Life in January 2020.

Both PCs have dualboot with a dedicated Linux SSD too, but spend most of their time in Win7.  My laptop on the other hand is on Linux exclusively.

Come 2020, I'll just wipe the Windows drives.  I'm really not going to move to Windows 8.1 or Win10.
