iPhone 8 is worlds "hottest" smartphone

TBH it sucks to see HTC bleed out slowly because I loved their UI/UX design language and device design language in the One M7/M8 days.

Cool news though.

I'm surprised to find someone who liked the M8's UI/UX to be honest. I had one and while I loved the phone, my two biggest complaints were the terrible camera (though no one is buying HTC for the camera) and the UI/UX.

More M7. I loved Sense back then, and the design was great externally.

Sense UI is one of those things where I see it and get really nostalgic. You can't help but to feel that way since it's surely an iconic design.

That was the M7. The M8 was the one with a 4MP camera... in 2014.

Why not Nokia 6/6.1 instead?

Maybe 7 pluss. Not entirely shure the exact pricepoint of the SE

More value for money

The iPhone SE is just unbeatable value though. It’s around $100 USD for a refurbished unit. You’ll likely have a few scratches on the screen and the battery will have an “80% status”. But it’s still a far better phone than any midrange Android.

Just looked at some sample shots and they look pretty decent. On paper 4MP (I've seen reports of 5MP, not sure which is correct) seems small, but in the grand scheme of things, the larger size of each MP on the M8 makes up for it.

I don't really get it ... Why is an overpriced , second-rate iphone 7 refresh beating out everything else?

From a technical standpoint, it has the internals of the iPhone X (minus a couple features). From a price standpoint, it's also $300 cheaper.

If Android phone OEMs combined did not make hundreds of models but just one for the entire world population to purchase, it would far outstripped iPhone 8 in sales.

Have you looked at the Nokia 6 for about 200$?

No refurbished unit, no scratches on screen, 100% battery.

Long support with Android one and great durability.

The reason I'm not considering another Android phone is because of how quickly I've seen them get dropped. 2 years of OS and security updates, and then nothing.

Apple is still supporting the iPhone 5S with iOS 12, and that phone came out in 2013! If this trend continues, that would mean the iPhone SE will receive support until approximately 2021.

Markets share doesn’t matter when that 20% makes virtually all the profit in the industry.

Marketshare doesnt win for a company, making money does.

I see.

The Nokia 6 which was released 2017 will get 2 Years of OS support and then i believe it is 2-3 years of Security updates. A bit newer 6.1 gets the same support life.

Imo looking at it. Even taking into account the support life of the SE id still grab the Nokia. Just the fact that it is a brand new device with a look and feel to match. You will get support with the 6 untill 2022. 2023 with the 6.1

I think arguing for a win is bad when we want competition.

Intel "Won" the CPU market for 5 years. Nothing good came out of it

There are plenty of new iPhone SEs on Amazon from $200~$300. Further, you can easily get a new iPhone SE with a data plan through a carrier. So the SE is still a compelling choice, even brand new.

Well every company needs to win to compete. You don’t want one company always winning, but someone has to win.

For 300$ you can get a Nokia 7 pluss. At that point the SE looses its appeal. Its just simply anbetter phone.

Though the SE definitivly have more dataplans with carriers

Imo a "new" SE looses to a "newer" Nokia 6.

Though i definitivly see the appeal of carriers as in some countries carriers are pretty much the only way to get a phone.

Are you an apple stock holder, investor, CEO?

As an end user why would you care Apple makes the most profit?

As an Android user, I will be saying good riddicance if company like Samsung imploded.

Overpriced metal is overpriced metal. Apple is milking more money out of its users for their exclusive shiny metals. Why are apple fans so happy about that I wonder.
