550w Corsair psu enough for Gtx 1080

I have a Corsair 550W Power supply right now and a I5 8600k at 5.0 GHz stock voltage, I want to get a Gtx 1080 or the next 1180 (or whatever they call it) will 550W be enough, also running rgb lights, ram keyboard and mouse if that makes a difference.

Should be enough. What model is it? I recommend the Corsair CX550M.

We don't really know. But we DO "know" (everything seems to back this up) there'll likely be a die shrink. I would expect similar power consumption, maybe even a reduction of power consumption.

Not sure I'd use a CXm for an i5k + 1080 build, wattage is fine but it's a budget PSU for a higher end build...

Just some bapo nerd from 'Straya

The CX550M isn't terrible, but surely if you can afford a 1080 you could bump it up to a TXM or some other PSU without a sleeve fan? This TX650M has way more wattage than you need but is on sale and is a better unit.

He already has it, so no reason to buy another if he doesn't absolutely need too.

One observation I've made is that the 1080 Ti makes the main transformer squeal (as it does in pretty much every double forward based PSU out there) under heavy loads.

Other than that, it should be fine.
