knowing now a bit more about this, the end result may be someone not being able to post a meme on a blog or a forum, but the main reason for this is EU wanting to "tax" Google, Facebook, Microsoft,... the big American companies, the idea is not to stop anyone from posting a link or a meme, but rather that this companies pay so their users are able to do so.

disclaimer: i'm not for it, just explaining what is the idea behind this.

So, a shit money grab?

Really does sound like the EU now.

it makes little difference, the states themselves have some very stupid ideas, is not like this is the brainchild of aliens, one of the idiots pushing for this is in EU is from my country and elected by us, so. And i guess parliament has to approve and it was us Europeans that put them there.

But politics aside, sometimes we are "rescued" by the EU with some good laws, it goes both ways.

That's why Brexit is somewhat a good thing :P

Actually it'll still be adopted unless MPs throw it out and judging by our current PM that wants a nanny state I would say that the outlook seems bleak
