Why do ALL VOICE SMART ASSISTANTS Have there own voice?

I’m asking why can’t they let you chose a voice on your phone the home assistants EVERYTHING why do they have there unique voice? Why not just let customise it I don’t get it

because you have to get someone in a studio to record there voice making things like bad jokes, answering question, etc also you have to pay those people so it gets expensive to hire more and more voices 

Ex frequent user here, still check in here occasionally. I stopped being a weeb in 2018 lol

dont you remember them old satnavs? U could put ur own downloaded voices....

Actually no. Almost all voices now can be made from just showing it what a female voice sounds like and learning from it to make it. Google showed off a bit ago it's new voice system and it's so good you can't tell it's fake at all. It's coming soon to google stuff

well these are major corporations and you would get sued without consent to use that said voice this would mostly go if you made some famous person that said voice they may be sue with something like, Using my likeness without my consent or financial compensation

When you hear Siri's voice, you know it's Siri, and it's from Apple. It's distinct.

 

Same reason that Microsoft used Cortana's voice for their virtual assistant. Because people recognize the voice.

And do you remember how utterly shit most of those "community created" voices were? The only good ones were typically the paid-for ones that Garmin, etc, hired to do the voiceover work.

They do. But the number of phrases used is vastly fewer than a personal assistant. They record pre-determined phrases that can be combined together, such as "Turn left at the light ahead".

 

Only some of the voices will speak road names.

Well, Siri can have different voices. It has male and female voices with many different accents available for each, and the voice is different for every language, which is true for all speech synthesis systems.
