Out of all these parts what is making my laptop slow?

The parts:

• Cpu: I5-5200U
• Ram: Samsung 8gb (single|DDR3) 
• Storage: ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB
• Motherboard: Lenovo Nano 5B6

So out of all of these what would be the problem?

i would change it for a ssd, i dont know if your notebook supports m.2 drives, but probablty you will have to buy a 2.5" ssd

Ok, and sadly I believe it does not support m.2 drives.

I have two older lenovo laptop's with i5's, both the same laptop one just a slightly newer version.  The older laptop wouldn't support an ssd or windows 10, either of them would give random blue screens.  The newer one had no issues.  also I hate lenovo, both laptops were faulty at various times for various reasons.  Have an Acer now and don't use it a lot but it's trouble free, also at a price point double what either of the lenovo's were. Just not happy with Lenovo on all front's.

For the SATA form factor? How much storage do you need?

TLC ssd's will be cheaper but won't last as long, though it'll be a long time before it wears out.  MLC will be more expensive but faster and last longer.  My favorite TLC ssd's are the sandisk (pull's one out of the drawer to get the name) ssd plus.  They're affordable and reliable.  I thought two of them died but turned out it was purely user error as they were in two seperate builds for a friend and my dad.  SMART was fine on both and ran a disk check both are fine.  I probably have 6-7 of them in circulation between my machines and friends and family with no hardware issues.  oh, these are tlc

 

edit: basically at this point most sata ssd's perform the same give or take, choose on price and reliability

edit again: I might have got tlc and mlc mixed up

The Hard Disk Drive. In addition to spinning rust being rather slow to begin with, the Seagate drive you have is spinning at 5400 RPM (The slowest speed currently used in regular production).

 

I would recommend upgrading to an SSD. I recommend WesternDigital Blue SSDs.

10k is only in old raptor's and in current enterprise. 7200k is common

That's wrong. Most common storage is still 5400RPM because it's cheaper and uses less power. My 2TB Seagate FireCuda is 5400RPM with a 32GB cache.

Nah, most common currently is 7200RPM. That Firecuda uses 5400RPM because it can due to the cache.

In laptops, the most common is 54oo RPM because it uses less power. For desktops where power is less of a concern they use 7200-10,000 RPM depending on the user level (basic-enterprise).

 

My laptop's 1TB SSHD has an 8GB of cache and is still 5400RPM. However my 3TB FireCuda has a smaller 16GB cache and is 7200RPM.

 

All in all the OP should get an SSD, the first upgrade I do on any client systems are SSDs. Even an eMMC SSD would be faster than a mechanical drive.
