Debating going back through years of posts and finding the threads where people cried tin foil hattery on me for proposing that facebook actually did shit like this.

 

I guess it's only really worth it if I can rub it in somebodies face though.

When you install it it asks for permission to you phone and contacts......like are people this stupid? If it ask you to read your shit and you say yes and then it reads it and you get mad...Im sorry I dont have an answer for you..

We use Skype here. Family is in other country, far away, with bad internet connection. Skype is the one that hold up nicely, and easy to use enough for my grand parents. Disconnect are rare. Plan B, is Viber. Sometimes used when they are not at home. Voice only on that.

Android is shit and didn't get that permission prompt feature until way too late.  And nowadays every app requests every permission by default even if it's not using any of them, so the feature is worthless.  iOS does it right by requiring a pop up for each specific feature requested, so apps like FB never even tried to do any of this contact/sms collection because they couldn't get away with it.  Not to mention the App Store is far better moderated than the Play Store.

I feel like doing that all the time, but it's not usually on forums that I have those problems.  The primary school my kids went to wanted us to use an app that let them send out notifications and update events on a calendar like setup. Sounds like a great idea until I found out the app they wanted to use wanted access to my phone call log, contacts, txts and email, gallery and half dozen other things it really didn't need. They looked at me funny when I said no way I was going to install an app like that.

Glad i ditched Facebook years ago,never used instagram, and got rid of Twitter a month ago.  Its all a waste of time anyways if theres stuff i legitimately want to discuss theres forums like this one and discord chats.

Sucks that my mom still uses facebook. For me it's just where all my old friends from school are added. I hope Twitter doesn't become that bad because I actually like Twitter a bit.

Hmm I use Android for now, I am thinking of moving to an iPhone later this year, however for now I am stuck with Android.  Has Messenger Lite being compromised?
