Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Yeah the turbo busa thing is really just for bragging rights.

Yeah, the busa is already crazy without a turbo.

Imagine riding a motorcycle with a really laggy big turbo

But then when it does kick in, it kicks in, HARD. Soon you'll be doing wheelies for miles

Probably a lot like those turbine driven bikes. Two second delay between a throttle position change and any change in the engine...

I wouldn't consider Marty and Moog reviewers. They're more builders, just like Haggard Garage

so this has been bothering me recently; makes me worry more for other people because I watch all our cars like a hawk, but still.

So we went to get the family Suburban inspected at a local place, while I was waiting inside they parked the car where I could see it. They turn the headlights on and off and then wait around a bit (literally just stand around) and then come tell me it's burnt and they gave a price. So I told them to do it (with my dad's permission of course, since its not my car). They then go back, change the headlight and make sure it works again. They then go off and work on another car that they were fixing. After about 10 minutes they put the new inspection sticker on the car and pull it out of the shop, having checked nothing but the headlights. They charge me the fee and I'm on my way. I didn't say anything to them.

Then a few weeks later, we go to a different shop with my dad's car to get it inspected. They get me to sign my name and info on a paper and pay them, and then they walk to the car (me following), scrape off the old inspection sticker and put a  new one. They then tell me to have a nice day.

So two different places at two different times. None of them are inspecting cars. This is so dangerous if something on your car is in mechanically terrible condition and you wouldn't even know until it's too late. Is there anything I can do about this?? Like I said I know whats going on with all our cars here, because i'm monitoring them all the time, but what about other people in my city who don't even care about their cars and just bring them to a shop to fix whatever is wrong or buy a new car whenever something does go wrong????

Oh I know, but the general consumer will complain that the car isn't quiet.

They should just add a loud button. :D

As much as I wouldn't want to make a scene, part of the problem is you putting up with that crap. I bet you a large percent of mechanics are like that. Especially in franchise garages and maybe even small ones. It's the sad truth.
