Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

You can't operate them without looking at them. The old button/knob stereos are enough and allow me to keep my eyes on the road.

I almost want to go so far as to say that they are in some circumstances as bad as texting and driving

I can't really think of an instance where I'd be poking at it while driving..?

Until you get rear ended. Its more of a safety issue for me.

Give idiots something that can distract them while driving and it will do so..

Getting a new vehicle is a hassle though. Especially if you've set the seat just right

I lost my merc to someone rear ending me. It really does suck arse

A Mazdaspeed 6 comes with both a button/knob stereo plus a touchscreen navigation system. They're separate from each other, and the navigation system is operated by a remote.

So today i saw what was possibly the worst Civic i have ever seen. Holy shit, it had some super stupidly loud dual pipe single exit exhaust, but god damn, it accelerates slower than a snail. For the noise it makes, it definitely didn't go fast at all. It made my ears bleed.

As far as I know, most vehicles do that. Except the remote.

Some cars like Audi and BMW and even Chevy have navigation integrated with their system, not a dual screen thing nowadays

No what I meant is that along with the multi-purpose screen, there are still buttons and knobs on the dash that you can use.

I don't know. i'm seeing less and less car manufacturers use buttons and knobs. mazda's new cars for sure don't have buttons anymore to operate the stereo AFAIK

Apparently the first car ever to come equipped with a navigation screen was the 1990 Honda/Acura Legend. I expected a Merc/Audi/BMW, not a Honda. Who ever thought?

It was indeed; I'm not surprised given how crucial navigation is in Japan, let alone in CBDs like Tokyo.

Honda had the worlds first automotive GPS system all the way back in 1981, except it wasn’t actually a GPS at all. It was called the Electro Gyrocator and it used transluscent maps and – as the name suggests – a gyroscope.

It was brilliant, but functionally limited and incredibly expensive. $7,000 adjusted for inflation, which explains why it wasn’t a popular option.

But it was a deathly expensive option, almost 7000 in today's money.

LOL i hate that. You hear a big loud noise as they put the pedal on the floor and see a civic going through a yellow light going like 20 mph xD

at least no one hits them because they are too busy staring and laughing at how stupid they look

Just Civic problems.

Second best car under the Honda brand name IMO is obviously the Prelude. Following the S2000

I mean, the Integra i would definitely place above the Civic because it came DOHC only. So at least it's got more power.

Well. I'd love an Integra quite a bit. Even more so a NSX.

I'd love a 90's NSX because of pop up headlights.

Also a 90's Integra.

The NSX is the only one where the zenki one looks better than the kouki one. i prefer those pop up headlights. if only the v6 made more power stock
