I'm going to start off by saying that I've never had poutine, and it looks absolutely fucking disgusting.

So good luck to anyone saying that's their favorite.

Just take the cheese curds off and you have something called 'gravy & chips' as us Brits say :)

But wouldn't the fries just get soggy? That's what I'm thinking. And yes, cheese curds are disgusting as well.

Wisconsin disagrees with you. But they don't put up with these "Chips" and gravy either, they prefer chili cheese fries.

Not if the fries are made properly. Thats why you need to go to an actual poutinerie where the fries are extra crispy to compensate for the gravy

Id probably have to go with poutine.

As much as it doesnt look great, its comfort food and it always hits the spot for me. I was taught to never judge a book by its cover anyway. :)

Well, that's what the majority of Canadians will tell you is the best Canadian cuisine so I guess we'll just have to disagree.

Personally, I love poutine so much that it's a risk to my health,

but yea you have to make it right.

I do it with shoestring fries so they don't get soggy and you have to use real curds not just plain mozza. I also think beef gravy is best even though most people prefer chicken.

Anyways, most of our best food is junk food just like America.

We have a really good selection of chips. In fact, most chip flavors you enjoy today were invented by a company from Toronto called Hostas which was bought out a long time ago.

Then there are regional dishes. That's where it gets more complicated.

Canada isn't just one place with one culture. Different provinces are so different that they're almost like different countries. In the maritimes, people have thick scottish/irish accents that have been passed down for generations and we have our own food that's different from say Alberta or other provinces. In Newfoundland, the cuisine is mostly how creative can you be with bologna :P

No seriously, they know how to make it good.

They do this recipe with bologna and hash browns for example that will surprise you with how good it is.

Lots of stuff with game meats around here too like moose.

There's all sorts of dishes from across the country so it's a real hard question to answer.

And of course when talking about fine Canadian cuisine how can we forget Timbits?  Or as the UK locations probably call them; 'Thomas' Cake Rounds'.

Gotta fancy it up:

Durum-wheat elbow pasta with a melted cheese blend and diced sausage.

IT'S NOT KD WITHOUT THE SKINNY KD NOODLES! D:

What I typed perfectly describes the KD :P the pasta is skinny durum-wheat elbow pasta. It's definitely a melted cheese blend. And hot dogs are a form of sausage.

I find KD has lost flavour Maple Syrup brings some back.

For dessert either of these will work nicely.
