Could someone explain why you need to leave your PC on...? With an SSD a cold boot is almost as fast as waking from sleep and turning on the monitor, and you aren’t throwing a bunch of crap into the atmosphere with wasted electricity

Putting the system to sleep is leaving it on...

But some people keep things running because cold boot or waking takes to long to get their workflow started again.

 

And some systems just don't cold boot fast. My X99 system takes a minimum of 20 seconds to boot with an 850 Evo or 950 Pro and just about any light Linux distro or Windows 10.

I only shut my computer off when really bad thunderstorms are happening.
