Is the GT 730 or GT 1030 any good for games that are not very heavy on the GPU at 720P?

looking at TomsHardwares review(http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gt-1030-2gb,5110.html) it can play most AAA titles at 720p medium at close to 60fps, so I'd say its pretty decent, you shouldn't have much problems with most game at 720p

What CPU/GPU do you have now and what games do you play? Also for the price of a 1030 you can probably get a much more powerful 950/1050 used.

get a intel g4560 or g4600 and a 1050 or rx 460

dude my first gpu was the blisteringly fast Nvidia GT 610. With 48 Cuda cores and 1gb of DDR3, It was an absolute MONSTER. I slapped that thing into some core 2 duo machine with 3 gigs of ram that my dad's friend gave me and played Farming Simulator 2013 for DAYS... at 720p. And I LOVED IT

Was it a terrible purchase? Yes.

Was it an awful experience? Yes.

Did I care AT ALL? NO

I guess what I'm trying to say is that... if it's your first build... and you actually have to go on a forum to ask if a $50 gpu is worth a shit... It really doesn't matter that much.

The GT 1030 is vastly better than the GT 730 but I can only recommend this one

because it has HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4 

 

Just point fan on it and it will run very cool, even without fan it runs just warm under load with even slight air flow.
