4K 144Hz when?

niofalpha

When can we expect 4K 144Hz monitors to be out? I remember reading something saying they'll be here soon (TM) a few years ago. Just curious as to when they'll be here.

Bonus points if they're 21:9.

I swear to god if any of you say "muh crysel bal" I'm blocking you.

You would need dual Titan Xp's to push that and it still would drop way below 144fps constantly. This just isn't feasible yet.

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

ofc it is,also doesnt matter if it is constantly at 144fps or not,a panel that costly will have gsync anyways

and anything above 60fps is already a improvement

it does matter to have 144fps coz then ul take advantage of the 144hz, if u just get above 60 u can just stick with a 75hz monitor... the biggest change is 60 to 75hz , then 75 to 100,  after that it becomes less big of a change ( still noticeable alot however )

dual titans wont even run it at 144fps on 4k in modern games... unless u wanna play with LOW settings which is entirely fking pointless to get a 4k monitor just to play on LOW settings or medium... better just get fullhd with max settings then xD  ( supersampling for example lol )

its prolly gonna take another 6-10years to see 144fps on max settings 4k in gpus these days xD

It will come when the GPU and CPU gets to that point.

No reason to make a monitor of that spec if no hardware on the market can power it.

Yeah but a 4k panel with 144hz and gsync will also cost about(based on 1080 and 1440p panels) atleast $200 more than a 60hz panel, and not many people will pay that much extra just for the extra 10-15 fps they'll be getting, and that's assuming theyre even running the highest tech available right now.

following that logic, why would anyone even bother to buy 1080p 144hz panels if not every game can reach that?

Cause games like CSGO, LoL, dota etc can reach that. And the majority of people who buy 1080p 144hz play those kind of games.

They're not even beginning panel manufacturing until next month, then Nvidia has to work their magic, so figure it'll be 2H 2018 as has already been said. Pricing will also be high, so I hope you're willing to shell out a very pretty penny.

Except they don't make 4k monitors above 60hz....so, for those that want to go higher, there's this.

Not everyone runs lower end hardware that can't push 4k content at a high level.

The only way it'll take 10 years, is to get 4k to play on mid tier level hardware.

They're coming. They'd already be out if it wasn't for panel manufacturing issues.

It'll be a lot more expensive than that, because of the features and the fact that it's a very niche market.

even high end systems cant go near 4k with ultra settings :P ( i personally think its pointless to increase resolution to reduce game quality , ultra or no go xD

and ye 4k 144hz is gonna take a looong time still xD if not the FPS its gonna be a problem developing the panels

Yes they can. They can't max out at 144hz, but if you throw 2 1080Ti's at a game, then yeah, you'll hit a lot farther above 60fps.

You don't need to play at Ultra settings, High is often just as good as Ultra with a much lower resource requirement.

You think it's pointless, not everyone does ;)

Problem developing panels? They already have. They just have to ramp up production. So the development is already done.

It's a nice touch. Skyrim felt better for the 10 minutes I played without installing abunch of mods.

4K144 is still a long way off, No input can do 4K at 144 currently. DP 1.3/1.4 can do 4K120, DP 1.5 is still in development and will still be years before you see monitors with DP 1.5. There barely any monitors that have DP1.4. With HDMI not even the upcoming HDMI 2.1 supports 4K144, it will only go up to 120. HDMI 2.1 is still years away before it will be included in consumer electronics.

Or you could just make it, sell it to people who don't realize that they can't take full advantage of it (or who don't care) and make money, and then watch everybody realize they can't actually take full advantage of it, then watch them buy better components, stimulating the market, and therefore giving a reason for more technological advancement. Yay consumers!
