Ryzen 7 64GB 3200 RAM Even Possible?

I am interested in a Ryzen 1800x, but have a future need for 64GB RAM and current need for 32GB.
Most of what I have read, states that the Ryzen likes fast RAM.
I haven't seen any people running 3200 RAM in a 64GB config.
I don't notice any 64GB approved RAM config.

Is the Ryzen CPU/chipset just broken, or which RAM should I buy?

[I was looking at a MSI X370 Carbon MB]

Aidianlockett1, I don't want to buy RAM that won't ever work with 64GB.

Hasn't this platform been out for--months?

Install RAM, update BIOS (if needed), set XMP profile, and you're done. At least, that's how I did it.

Memory is a plot point for me, because I want some single-core improvement over my aging Sandybridge, which the Ryzen can apparently has, and my immediate need is 32GB, but I don't want to lock myself out of 64GB, because I use some heavy-hitter science applications (below, most of the way through), which my current system lacks the RAM for.

[The Threadripper is spiffy, but oh so spendy, the motherboards are expensive, and not well rated.]

I did say can rather than is. If you're using something on the QVL (or just B-Die in general, which the RAM kit in your profile signature uses), XMP is likely work just fine.

 

Outside of that (lower grade Hynix/Micron memory not on the QVL for example, and memory kits sold with a command rate of 2T in general), it's the silicon lottery all over again as to how much tweaking is needed to achieve the sticks' rated stability at 3000+Mhz.

Does it make sense to get 3200 RAM--err 2932 and slow it to 3000 in the UEFI?

I am looking at G.Skill mostly, or perhaps Cosair, who does not seem excited about supporting the Ryzen.
I would be seeking a 2x16GB kit, with the hope of adding a second.

The Threadripper would seem easier for a 4x8GB kit.

Sigh.

I had 0 issues getting my Corsair Dominator Platinum to work at 3000mhz in a 2x16gb config.  I can't imagine it would throw too much of a fit adding a second set.  Maybe I got lucky, maybe I'm ignorant.

My advise was towards the motherboard, MSi has the shittiest bios and controllers for Ryzen memory overclocking... their lower end models like tomahawk sometimes gets a wall on 2666mhz regardless the configuration even by today...
