@Liam-McShane @Freaky_spider @tristan1035

the 1500 watt psu is to handle all the stuff and to have potential in going crossfire. (overkill don't exist if you have a awesome mobo than you need to prepare to use it in the future for extensions)

he already got that cpu and it is still a great one, indeed the 4930k is a better option if you don't have a cpu already.

the 64 gb ram is needed if you want a ramdisk and still have enough ram left. (and thats why the speeds matters to ;))

-Freaky why you think this would be unbalanced? they make these products for a reason.

-Liam the external rad is better to have more space inside the case because its not designed to have rads inside and since 1 big rad can do the trick, instead using 2 or 3.

The goals we are trying to achieve is to clock the system high as possible on cpu, gpu and ram to get this you need quality components.

there is no such things as overkill, it all depends on what you want to do next with it.

you better spend a few dollars extra on a decent psu than buy 3 more psu for every upgrade you make ;)

1500 Watt PSU for the 550-600 Watt System. The record has been broken. Unless your planning to add 3 more 290X cards and swap for a 4930k and OC it to 5ghz I don't ever see you getting 1500 Watts used.

You make some decent points, but if you would like some feedback (that's why you made this post right? ) this is what I would have done instead:

1) Get a I7 4930K since the 4820K is a stupid CPU (yes I know he had that already, but he could have gotten it for what he would have saved under).

2) I thought I was stupid getting my own PSU, but this is even more so... You could easily have gotten an AX860i (One of the highest quality PSUs out there. Made my Seasonic and sold by Corsair.) and still overclocked heavily. NEVER buy PSUs with upgrading the next year or so in mind.

3) Ramdisks are stupid and should not be used as there is simply to many problems and the benefits are just not there. Go mad with 1TB Samsung EVO SSDs instead if you want to spend money on storage.

4) 64GB is useless for anything else then Ramdisks and since they are useless you should have gotten 16GB or 32GB if there is some mad shit going on.

5) Yes they make them for a reason. And that is not too work togehter as you have put them. We are talking about virtual machines, Tri-290X, 4970K, server use, immense gaming, proffesional video editing, Surround 4K setup and so on here.

6) If the case is not designed for rads you don't get rads. You get a new case and then you get rads. 900D or Kosmos 2? Or something from Caselabs or make it yourself?

7) It is something like Overkill and this is the epitome of that.

Feel free to disagree and we'll see how this ends.

Got mixed up :/ Seasonic made the old AX series without the "i" in them.

please for the love of god do somthing with those cables, they really ruin the entire look of the computer. if you dont want to be fancy just sleeve them in black. Now onto the tubing run, they are chaos, if you want to really clean them up you could do something like run bitspower crystal link between all the blocks on the board. I am not going to say anything about the components because that has already been discussed.

Not sure what this system is meant to do (gaming, video editing, ???)  But as many have said, seems like you guys may have just had money to spend.  Price to performance is likely terrible.  There really isn't such a thing as a future proof system.  Certainly upgradable to a point, but as tech advances, it makes more sense to build a new rig so that compatibility doesn't become an issue.

But I DO like a watercooled R9 290X!  Should have gotten 2 and crossfired the bitch! :)

-snip- (original comment is on page 1 for those interested)

This pretty much summarised what I was going to say.

I think "overkill" is the wrong word... borderline stupidity (no offence bro); I say this a lot but make a rig that suits what you're going to do with it, i.e. if you're going to just game, get an i5, if the case.
