Why all the hate for 1070Ti?

mitchpman13

Hey everybody, just started watching all the 1070Ti vids being released and I've been seeing a lot of negativity on it so far. Part of it I can understand, but some not so much and I feel a tad bit confused by peoples reactions so far. So the main issue I've been seeing with people complaining about the 1070Ti is that is doesn't need to exist outright o.O, or the issue with custom manufacturers can't overclock it before sending it. The second issue I can understand somewhat, but we're still able to overclock it ourselves which always ends up having a better overclock than whats offered (unless warranty is a main issue for you). As for it not existing, Well I never understood why Nvidia never made a 70ti to begin with, even back when they started back in the 500 series. I've always seen a 50, 60 and 80 Ti, but no 70 Ti. The biggest issue I've heard so far is that it will consume sales for the 1080, but hasn't that always been the issue with the Ti's? To rival the card above it. I used to own a 660ti(oc) and it out performed or rivaled a 670. As well with a 760Ti(oc) and 770. We never used to see a 80Ti until the 700 series, which honestly felt like Nvidis way of having something better than a 80, but not dual chip that we quit seeing with the 690. I honestly feel like the 70Ti is going to be a good card, and it will end up being a great card for some people who want a 1080, but want to save a little cash as well.

As of before posting I've seen issues with pricing outside the US, which is a little upsetting to see, so I guess its just a gain for us potentially in the US until something with the market happens.

What are your thoughts on the card?

Because it makes the 1070 useless.  For ~$25-$50 more, you can get ~1080 performance (also hurting the 1080) and people are mad as to why the 1070 was changed.  People wanted a new architecture and got a rebuild, so that's why they are probably mad.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

This ^^^ It's like the Titan X reboot that ticked off all the previous Titan X owners. And then the 1080 Ti was like a second slap to the face. Also, seems like Nvidia's middle finger to Vega.

Exactly

1070 owners got ripped off by buying a shittier GPU

1080 owners got ripped off by paying way more for almost identical performance

Its like what they did with Titan Xp and Titan XP. Xp owners got mad because the XP invalidated the Xp almost entirely except this time Nvidia ivalidated both the 1070 and 1080 in one go.

The only thing with the 1080ti is it was a lot more performance than both the titan and the 1080, but costed $250 more :o

Yeah but apparently they aren't confident yet to announce how small would the GPU be in Next Year

The x80 Ti card of nVidia is always the best card to ensure you're not getting the middle finger in each generation.

not only the performance undermines the 1070 and 1080

the price will bound to soar when miners start snapping up the GPU for their mining rigs

many of my local PC shops are out of stock with the GTX1070

the GTX1070Ti will prob be out of stock even before it hit the shelf and even if there is stock

the price will be inflated

Yep. The 1070 and 1080 are still dope cards... just the way gamers think, they could have gotten something better for a bit more, or the same for a bit less.

Just buy whatever you can afford.

Do you only have 440€ to spend? get 1070

Can you spare another 30€ ? Get 1070 Ti.

And if you have 540€ in your pocket go with 1080.

I don't see anything wrong with entire 10xx lineup.

Maybe we are missing something between 1080 and 1080 ti.

Well Nvidia and Intel both panicked this year with AMD stepping up to the plate once again. They've both had it easy for some time now and couldn't expect anything from AMD, Nvidia of course handled it a little better since AMD has been launching more GPU's than CPU's, I feel like this is something that would have just been expected from them. As for seeing a new architecture, I wouldn't expect them to launch one until the 1100 series or whatever they call it. Yes, the cost is in the middle, but the performance is also going to be in the middle (revieleved to end up being closer to an 80 card which I'm not to surprised by), so its just another in the middle slot tier like the Ti is supposed to be. Sure you bought the 70 and lost out some performance to gain from, or an 80 and could've saved some, but that's how the ti has always been for so long now.

Quote

the price will bound to soar when miners start snapping up the GPU for their mining rigs

As for miners and inflation, well that's not Nvidias fault, so I don;t feel the blame can be put on them there.

I personally have a 1080, but I used to love buying Ti cards when they launched because I knew how well they've always been. As for most of my friends just stayed to the non Ti cards.

Quote

Its nvidia what do u expect?

This has always been my mindset, it's a love/hate relationship, but I never feel like any card just shouldn't exist just because people expect more from Nvidia. I always just assume the worst or wait it out.

I would still buy 1080 over 1070 Ti any day of the week. The price difference is super small and the 1070 Ti lacks bandwith for higher resolutions.

I would as well, but I still see it as a gain if I'm trying to help a friend build a system and it opens an opportunity to get them a 1080 performance if I need the little extra head room.

the 1080 and 1070 owners fill hurt because they could only get the cards either 2nd hand or hiked in price, then the 1070 ti came out and changed things so they feel they wasted loads of money for less performance.

Its the same thing with the titan x pascal and titan xp. While i have both i do hope nvidia will support the titan x pascal just as they do with the titan xp. This is to do with drivers relating to unlocking some of the locked stuff that the titan xp gets in order to compete with the vega fe.

I find it funny people complain about a product on the Market for a year and something else comes in to bridge the gap and offer alittle performance for same price bracket

Its like complaining about buying 2017 car when you know 2018 models coming out soon

How does it not make any sense? Every mid end Ti card has always been in the middle between two cards. The 70ti is doing the same thing as the 50ti and 60ti in the past.
