The value is still high tho, but this is an improved rebrand card

love how they made 4k look like 360p

360 is higher than 4, therefore it's better. :)

Excellent quality. Couldn't have done it better myself.

Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. Alright I mean is not like it was perfect before but if we can get @Slick to take like a week break from Floatplane and actually help out the new team members to figure out how not to embarrass themselves? Floatplane is great but this should be your bread and butter at LMG.

I watched this video and the only thing I could see is that inch and a half hair growing out of Linus' auricle.

Does anyone have any sources on Nvidia limiting manufacturers binning chips? I can't imaging them actually doing that. It would affect their image so poorly like this video.

Not sure if I can agree with that.

GTX 1070 costs 440€  (1920 cores --> 1€ = 4,36 cuda cores)

GTX 1070 Ti = 470€  (2432 cores --> 1€ = 5,17 cuda cores)

GTX 1080 = 540€ ( 2560 cores --> 1€ = 4,74 cuda cores)

At least those are prices in Germany right now.

Sure we can't just look at number of cores when comparing gtx 1080 and 1070 ti, since GTX 1080 is also using GDDR5X

But when you look at GTX 1070 vs GTX 1070 Ti, price to performance ratio ... I would say 1070 ti is better option.

Some users simply can't afford to spend another 70€ to get 1080 GPU, and GTX 1070 Ti isn't any bad at all.

It's only 30€ more expensive than GTX 1070 so if you ask me, it's well worth it.

Currently in the US theres Been Deals at or lower then many of the 1070TIs now. So its kinda Weird you can get a lower End 3rd Party 1080 or a mid level 1070ti  at the same price point

That's some LMG quality right there!

Seriously, why are they making these clearly massive mistakes?

I think it's going to be fun to filter out everything that's wrong with the video, apart from the graph being wrong, somehow v56 performs exactly as the 1080, seems odd...

Maybe the video quality itself went up (if it manages to reach youtube properly) but the actual information in their video's somehow keeps having incorrect data and flaws. I don't understand how such a big team ends up making rookie mistakes like these even when they are under pressure.

You should check your sources, you can easily get a 1070 in germany for 400-420 euro's.

And 1080's for 500-510 euro's are also available.

Got the prices from geizhals.de

A bit of quick math later and you can basically get a 1080 for the same price per cuda cores as a 1070ti and, as you said, using GDDR5X.

Example of 1080 pricing results https://geizhals.de/?cat=gra16_512&xf=9810_7+8228+-+GTX+1080~9810_7+8228+-+GTX+1080+11Gbps

How did they fix the quality without re-uploading? was it youtube's fault or did I not notice them upload again?

So currently if you pick a costume variation of the 1070ti like evga ftw2 1070ti which costs 510€ (440$ currently)  and compare it to the GTX 1080 SC from evga which is 20 buck more, the 1070ti looks ridiculus bad. The prices are from germany and might differ but thats just insane and because i was hoping it would be priced rather at 450 im kinda upset to be forced to swap out my truly beloved r9 290.

If someone is about to spend 450 bucks on a GPU for a new build or upgrade, they can sure as heck save up the little bit extra for the 1080. It's absolutely worth the extra money over the 1070 TI.

I don't make much money myself, but yet I make things work. Takes a modicum of effort into budgeting to be able to pony up the extra cash.

and i guess If someone is about to spend 550 bucks on a GPU for a new build or upgrade, they can sure as heck save up the little bit extra for the 1080 ti :ph34r:.

that is the kind of thinking most people do buying a car.

I hardly think that making a purchasing decision regarding a car is relevant to this discussion. A reasonable GPU costs hundreds (Titan X isn't one of these), while a car costs many times more.

And yes I do think that with some effort people can expand their build budgets.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

you completely lost the point. When you buy a car, it's always for more little money you can also have y, but then why not more x dollars and you can get even more features. They do it on purpose, little incremental steps so you are always going a step farther in spending than initially you intended to

That's like comparing apples to oranges.

Nvidia fucked up with their partners, and AMD should capitalize on this.

They should go to partners like EVGA and other nvidia exclusive partners and pitch to them to make AMD cards, then advertise how you can't get factory overclocks on nvidia cards.

Yes, NVidia did fuck up with their partners but there is no way in hell AMD RTG is in any position to capitalize on this. Asus designed a card they can't get VBios working on, XFX has TEASED a preview of their upcoming Vega card.. but that's about it. No talk of availability of AIB cards, card you have to spend hours tweaking if you have the reference model and then you had damned well up your power supply if you buy one. RTG had a giant hole they could have blown wide open instead of this shit show of a launch. It looks like the rumors of them losing their ass on the card is true.. because they sure as hell don't want to get many out the door.

As far as NVidia partners swaying to AMD.. yeah, good luck with that shit. RTG couldn't afford to buy their way in and even if they could they can't produce enough for their partners to market it. This is currently one model out of NVidia's line they can't factory overclock.. if that becomes ALL the cards in the future AND RTG can come up with something that is not a pure pile of shit there may be room to make it happen.

Unless you want to buy an overclocked card that you can just plug and play, there is nothing stopping anyone overclocking it themselves. Its not a situation where you just outright can't do anything.
