Xbox 360 Emulating Questions

I am just curious on how to emulate xbox 360 games properly and legally. I have downloaded xenia, but it said that you needed the ISO (idk what that is) of the game for it to be able to play (also don't know the legality of it). Please help THX!

You can't legally emulate a console, unless the company who made it, makes another console to emulate whatever console they made before. And you buy that console.

Emulation itself is legal, but the problem is that most people obtain an ISO through illegal means. Basically, some people just pirate the ISO.

the legal way to do it is to get a game disc, and turn that into the ISO. although that's much harder to do, so most people just pirate.

OP you need to be able to rip your legally owned xbox 360 games, there are plenty of tutorials on how to do this

xbox 360 emulators won't be working very well, last I checked they managed to get the main menu working and some games to load... wouldn't hold my breath for an emulator that can do even half of the xbox 360 exclusives any time soon

Most 360 games came out on PC anyways and why not just buy a 360 and the game? They are dirt cheap

You get the emulator, find if it works.

You get the disc, make an ISO with Macrium Reflect, and find out if it works with the emulator.

what makes emulation illegal is the piracy aspect of it, downloading a copy of pokemon red even if you own a copy is still illegal, however it is 100% legal to rip your own copies of games you legally own, this is actually protected under the law assuming you do not crack any DRM to actually make the copy

OP if you want to get technical about it what you would be doing is called placeshifting which is specifically used to avoid copyright infringement claims

 

basically if you have a bunch of movies you own on a plex server you are doing the same thing, moving games from one console to an emulator would fall into this category

Obtaining the proprietary software to emulate would be illegal. The game calls APIs that would be available on an Xbox 360, not on a PC.

 

so even if you have the game itself, it doesn't just run on a PC. You need the Xbox 360 OS (which is MS proprietary software) or you need a reverse-engineered emulator (and It's illegal to reverse engineer software and redistribute it).

YES. It is legal to do so. But as you said, the black part is ISO's. BUT I think it's legal to download ISO's IF you have purchased the game since, you supported the developer by buying it.

I am not sure about the X360, but I have emulated the PS3 with Minecraft but I could not even enter to the world.

Nope. Emulating is completely legal. Same story: A virtual machine EMULATES a PC. You need a copy of Windows. You choose whether pirate it or buy a copy of windows or use your disc! So that means Virtual Machines are illegal too?

YES. Everything is legal about it. Why? Because instead of pirating a game you would get the Disc and burn it on ISO. Logic Bro.  Take it like this: A virtual machine EMULATES a PC. Sorry for the late response but it seems as though I hit my first wall. I have tried to burn the ISO of the xbox 360 disc using macrium but it failed (said that the hard drive needed to be formatted). Any tips?
