Broadwell what ever happened it?

ik broadwell for the lga 1150 was time poorly but do people use it. i still have my haswell refresh i5. broadwell was the origanal reason for the z97 update with haswell regresh just there to hold us over. do you think broadwell consumer cpu's are worth it? and so long after its launch would you want lmg to do a proper video on it because the top search for "linus tech tips broadwell" is a wan show archive and the second and onward anout broadwell e.

I don't think it's really worth their time to do a video on it at this point, I can't imagine many people would find it that gripping.

Broadwell was more suited for Intel to show off their improvements in the iGPU department.

It's why it never went anywhere on desktop despite both i5s and i7s being released on the LGA1150 and saw widespread usage on laptops.

tbh I think LTT is putting in a conscious effort to produce serious videos at the moment following their week from hell lol

but broadwell still got on the enthusiast platform amd was recived pretty well. i just feel sorry for it. i remeber reading a review that showed it out performing skylake due its chache or something. i still would love to see a video about it even if it is half assed and filmed on a iphone 4.

Broadwell is only good for the people that need a really powerful iGPU. Otherwise it's just an outdated platform not much better than a 4790K.

a skylake chip does massivly out perform a haswell but it requires ddr4. snd for someone wanting to upgrade but keep their ram the could go for broadwell.

If you can find a 5770C for like $200 then sure, otherwise you're just wasting money on an old platform and it would be better to save up for a new motherboard and ram.

Also, it depends on how much more expensive the 5770C is than the 4790K.

If you're upgrading from an i5 then it's not worth paying more for a 5770C.

If you already have a 4790K then it's a complete waste to upgrade to a 5770C.

lets say you were still on sandy bridge then i think it still a comptive deal given you already have a new graphics card but still i want to see a video on it. i mean he made videos about ultra low end gpus not being worth it. even if it was a video as a backup if a project got delayed i would be happy

Well, I think it started with the techquickie intro getting a lot of hate, then there was (in no particular order) the anti-RGB PC which many hated, then there was the 1920x1080 troll build which many hated, then there was the hyperloop video which many hated, and probably some more stuff I'm forgetting

From sandy bridge??

Then you would need to upgrade the whole platform anyway, CPU and motherboard.

At that point you might as well sell your old DDR3 and spend a few bucks more on DDR4 which is not really expensive anyway.

Actually, sandy bridge to 7700K is barely worth it, LTT has a vid about that coming soon.  2700K OC nearly equals 7700k for gaming to the point where an upgrade is highly questionable.

One thing that Broadwell had that I wish would be used on new CPU architectures from both AMD and Intel was the eDRAM.
