No problem. It will probably draw closer to 300W but the most effective range is about 50-70% depending on powersupply and 110/230V

Let's switch up your specs here. No reason to get a locked i7 in this day and age. I also highly doubt you need more than 16 GB of RAM and if you do, you want more than a quad core chip.

Yeah.

Don't know why people tell that you need more than 400W for a decent Desktop/Mobile system with a normal mid range to high end graphics card.

Yeah, but also one of the quietest under every circumstance.

And also has usually more cables than the modular PCB has connectors.

And other stuff (like the additional fan connectors)...

No, you can not.

Every 550W for 50$ is just the bare minimum, nothing to write home about.

 

We are talking about an 80plus Platinum unit with one of the best fans you can get. And that's what you are (partially) paying for: The fan of the dark power pro. That's one of the reason why it's so expansive.

Makes no sense to buy a 4 Core for 300 Bucks these days.

For 150€, you might eventually think about it. But the time of glorified quad cores is over, thanks to the consoles, the games will be optimized for more than 4 cores...

 

So either get a ryzen or wait another month or so.

You are comparing something that is equivalents to a 2000 Mazda 323 with something that is like a 2017 Mercedes A class. Of course it costs more, but that's because it is one of the best in its class.

 

Anyway, why recommend the 2000 Mazda 323 (Seasonic M12II) when you can get a much newer, much nicer 2017 Hyundai i30 (Corsair CX and CX-M, or BeQuiet! Pure Power 10) for about the same price?

 

(Ignore the fact that I don't know much about cars, and *hopefully* a 17 year old car doesn't cost as much as a similar range car (for the time) about a decade later)

There is just nothing on the market that uses a fan that's better than a Silentwings FDB fan...

Also there is the fan controller for 4 additional case fans the Dark Power Pro has. 

 

If someone wants a rather quiet PSU the Dark Power Pro P11 is a good choice...

Doesn't make it much better.

The difference in that area is huge, especially when talking about the fan.

And that's the biggest difference.

 

We are talking about a standard sleeve bearing fan at (maybe??) 900rpm at idle. The DPP P11 fan spins much much lower than that. 

And is of way better quality!

It's one of the best, if not the best fan you can find in a PSU. 

 

So to say that a low end/budget unit is (roughly) equal is just outrageous and just wrong.

 

So why not let him get one of the best PSU on the market instead?!
No reason for that...
