Floatplane Review

Go to solution Solved by colonel_mortis,

As others have said, you need to purchase a Floatplane subscription from

then the videos are distributed through the forum, in the new section that appears once you've subscribed.

I don't have floatplane club. Reason: Can't find videos. Takes too long to find the videos advertised on LTT on YouTube, so i gave up... Missed out on my money i guess Linus and Luke!

I would've purchased a sub months ago if this wasn't as confusing. I know i'm not the only one, but thanks for clearing that up... Would've posted a question long ago if i had known i would get a response SO FAST! i think being able to see what i'm purchasing before i purchase it would be helpful though for others with the same issue... but since i like and support Linus, Luke and anyone associated with them, then i will be purchasing anyway. Thanks again!

You can think of its current state as a alpha, where once they launch the full site it should be a lot more user friendly.

It's still in beta, eventually it will be moving to it's own website, having it on the forum is just a temporary solution.

Also, you basically get to watch the videos a week early, that's all. No need to see what you're purchasing before you purchase it, since it's literally the same videos you see on youtube.

Just a wonder... Myself I subscribed to Floatplane more to give something in return to the forum as I use it daily than for the videos... however one thing did bother me because it usually is common to any where you get a paid subscription/patreon... why do I still need to deal with the advertises on the up right corner on the main page? Isn't it like a normal practice the gesture of good will to offer advertises free environment to paying users?

You get rid of all the ads on the site if you upgrade to Bronze, Silver or Gold, but Floatplane is just a service that happens to be provided through the forum rather than a forum service, so it doesn't come with forum perks other than the badge, if that makes sense.

I don't understand what you need to see? You can view same content on YT already. You get exactly what it says in product description. What more you need? 3-day free pass? With unlimited downloads of all content section that would be just bad business.
