3 Phase and Single-Phase

Versti

so i'm gonna build my first custom build pc very soon,

but i watched a video talking about the 3 phase electricity and the single-phase electricity and its affect on PSUs, and some people got their pc fried because of it,

and i wanna know, is it true that a certain one could actually fry my pc? my psu is rm650x btw, and what can i do to stop it, because obviously i wont change the whole wires in my house.. lol..

i highly doubt the wires in your home that you plug a hair dryer into are anything but single phase.

2 phase and 3 phase electrical solutions are generally used for very power hungry applications, such as heavy duty machinery (Lathes, mills, electro-hydraulic cardboard cubers), or electrical arc welding.

What voltage do they output?

By the 3 phase are you referring to Live, Neutral and ground?

It's single phase, you won't have any issue.

Look @knightslugger post above for future understanding

three phase is exactly what it sounds like. 3 different phases of electricity 120* out of time from each other. as an example of what that's like, touching a 120V electric fence might give you some 2nd degree burns, but touching a 3-phase electric fence would turn you into charcoal instantly.

or the difference between getting beaten by one person vs being beaten by three people simultaneously.

a single cylinder engine vs a three cylinder engine.

semi-auto vs. burst

and so on...
