Because Ford is such a specialist in technology

He's being chosen because he's a great business man.

Apple is so successful because they had Steve Jobs as their head.

He's not much of a genius in technology, but he's one hell of a businessman.

Well that was unexpected... A very strange choice but I guess he already have been a CEO of a massive company which does make his quite experienced...

That's what's wrong with this world, they're looking for paperwork instead of using their damn minds. I'm working with an idiot with a degree who doesn't even know how to change an IP from dynamic to static. Yet he is the IT manager of his company. I hope they realize this soon though

That's just sad. I miss the time when people weren't so money hungry and actually managed to come up with great ideas. Now it's just a go with the flow kinda thing.

I'd love to have someone like Bill Gates be the head of Microsoft again.

He's a tech geek who accomplished great things as the CEO.

The thing is, you need to be a good business man to survive in this world.

I don't like it, but that's the way it's been.

Steve Ballmer wasn't really a tech lover in any way, as well.

Then again in my eyes the CEO doesn't have to know everything in and out since that's what he has all of the workers for until he/she gets the concept and is good at managing the business. I'd say someone from a different background could bring a different twist and new innovations to the products that Microsoft releases. I don't see this as a bad thing at all.

This.

A CEO is the head of the business side.

He runs the company, but he doesn't control its products.

Apple is losing its market share when it comes to iOS on PCs (meaning personal computer in this context, not computers with Windows)

Windows is still growing.

The reason things are going in the shitty direction it's going is because people get hired to work as machines, there's little passion in developments today and everything is a sales gimmick. I don't care if it's good for microsoft getting money or not, it's bullshit non the less, since when did people let money take over their lives?

If you think Steve Ballmer wasn't purely business oriented, you'd be wrong.

Microsoft has had a business only CEO since Bill Gates stepped down.

I never said they didn't already have a business oriented CEO if you look at my text again, you'll see I'm talking about even the present, not just what is to come. Tenses they're important.

Yeah, because we all know how good of a job John Sculley did for Apple... He was also a hell of a businessman but had no idea what he was doing in terms of technology....

You are wrong Windows is still growing quite a lot.

And there are hundreds of cases where no Steam OS can be a replacement.

Ok so he's not an 'IT' guy.

But I looked him up.

-he's an aerospace engineer

-designed the all digital cockpit flight deck in the boeing 767

So I'd guess that he's probably savy enough to adapt to the software industry and the other consumer goods stuff that Microsoft wants to do.

:)
