[Question] What specs would be perfect for a budget bitcoin mining system. (4-6 GPU's will be fine)

Leave me some ideas on some decent bitcoin mining systems here, I will edit my post once i get home.

 

I am wanting to make a bitcoin mining system for extra money overtime and need to know what system would be best? Cooling is not a problem as i live beside the beaches of lake erie. I can always get some kind of cold air / water cooling made for it!

We have a dedicated cryptocurrency sub forum here.

But GPUs are not worth it for Bitcoin mining, since ASIC machines have taken that over.

Don't bother building a rig for mining, you'd be much better off with a dedicated ASIC miner instead.

Not even asic miners are worth for a casual user. Problem is to get one first...

Also i really dont think im going to be a casual. I really want one because of Nerdgasm let us know on stream if you are in Canada, you make basically make a ton of cash in the long run depending on what you mine for. So can someone just shoot me in the right direction.

Nope too late. Bitcoin ASICs are dead too with the rise of the market tax. that's why in 2 days it is splitting into two coins which could easily take out the whole market or make the whole thing spike. No one knows but investing in a GPU mining rig is silly at this point. Wait it out

Well this sucks.. Basically what your all saying is that it's pointless to do in home bitcoin mining?  I don't believe that! I live in Canada and im sure if i start mining in my local area I can make more than i make with my current job. Can someone please message me who can help me startup a list of parts ill need to make this happen? Im sure GPU mining is the way to go now.

You will hemorrhage money if you mine bitcoin directly with GPUs. There is no getting around that, period.

You either mine alt-coins like Ethereum (not recommended), Ethereum Classic, Zcash, Litecoin or some other coin that's showing promise, or you just throw your money away, never to see it again.

Sorry bro, but don't waste your monies. I was making about 6 bucks US a day about a month ago, and now I am making less than 2 bucks a day.

Do not mine Bitcoin with GPU's. Nicehash is not a bitcoin miner, they just pay you in bitcoin.

Instead, I would recommend mining Zcash or Hush (Equihash algorithms) or mining Ubiq, Expanse, or Dbix (Ethash algorithms) while dual mining Sia coin.

The PSU, graphics cards and case/rig frame costs are left out as this depends on how you want to build your rig and what cards you can get your hands on. And the cards you get will determine the PSU (or PSUs) you will need to support them.

As of this writing, the best recommendation for cards I can give is for the 1060 3gb cards as there are some that aren't overpriced right now on Newegg ($220) and give a decent hashrate for all the algorithms I've put up above.

At the end of the day man, you gotta do your own research. If you don't understand it you're going to get burned, sooner or later.

If you're looking at the short term yeah, but personally I plan on mining and just holding my coins for several years and building a portfolio, as I anticipate that at least some of the coins I'm mining will grow in value by a large amount.

Mine a lot of coins when it's easy and sell later when they're much more expensive and harder to get :P

I understand now that what i was asking wasn't clear enough. I am new to this whole "BitCoin Mining" trend. A few teachers / professors of mine at college right now have their own "BitCoin" mining PC's in their own homes. They make off around 500$+ every month, but they also do own a few GTX TITANxP's to mine so i understand their systems must be very powerful! 

 

 

I am very interested in learning how I can make money off my GTX 970's as I currently own 3 of them right now. I will include my systems specs in the bottom of this post. I'm a IT Tech student in Ontario Canada, and most of you in Ontario already know how painfully expensive it is to live on your own and go to college. I'm currently researching what I should do with my systems i have to spare to mine and such to make some kind of "Easy Money" in some sense. 

 

I was watching barnecles nerdgasm and he spoke out about how it is so much better to mine in Canada than it is in the USA right now. He also mentioned that I should be mining with GPU's than CPU's or ASIC computers (I dont even know what those computers are, I've only googled it a few times to see these cluster systems and small USB's. I'm very confused but at the same time I am looking forward to having someone from the commmunity to help me understand this as soon as possible. 

 

I really need the extra cash and I have friends who do it many different ways but at this point they aren't clearly giving me the education i need to make my own Mining System. 

 

Can you guys help me out with this? 20 years old, builds systems but doesn't know how to make simple bitcoin (or alternatives) mining PC's

@nicklordzero I would recommend watching some of BitsBeTrippin' youtube videos if you want some ideas on mining rigs. Also he built a multiminer batch file so you can play around with certain mining algorithms and overclock settings. Just make sure you setup your wallets and all that (BBT has vids on how to do these types of things already there).
