I can absolutely compare the USD value of the 1080 to RX VEGA, go surrender to someone else

Point is that converting the leaked prices in euro in dollars isn't a base of comparison. To compare a price, you need to compare it locally since taxes aren't the same, margins from stores aren't the same etc. In Europe we all have euros, so I could say 1080ti are cheaper than 1080, because 1080ti in Romania are cheaper than 1080 in Germany. That doesn't work at all, as locally this never holds true.

 

We mostly have leaks, and assumptions based on Vega FE performance, that's not very concrete and everybody knows it. But that wasn't my point, my point was that you shouldn't compare price willy nelly like that.

Prices can vary from region to region though.

Early "leaked listings" have been wrong in the past so they are not all that reliable.

I'd say AMD's comment about "one system costs 300 dollars more" is a much larger indicator that Vega will be expensive (assuming those monitors are the correct ones) than the Swedish leaked listing is.

 

It helps that the leaked listings kind of matches the "this system is 300 dollars more expensive" as well.

You're right, my bad; it's very possible that the RX VEGA is only obscenely costly in just a few of the European countries and AMD won't at all try to make up the cost of using HBM 2.0 in a GPU that performs like a 1080 by pushing it off to the consumer

That pissed me off, as if when i buy a GPU i take my monitor into consideration of the value of that GPU itself (Sure Freesync is great and significantly cheaper than G-Sync but don't bullshit me); i hate AMD's meme magic marketing team
