-I tried to clean the coil of a stove because it made the food taste like smoke.

-Mom walks in and goes furious.

-I ask why she's mad.

-She's pissed because I was cleaning the coil and it was a unnecessary task to do.

-I told her that it needed cleaning since the food was being affected.

-She then rants on how me taking a shower is much more important than what I consume. That I was much dirtier than the coil itself(didn't shower for one day).

-I quit washing it, cleaned it off and let it dry.

-Later that night, she complains to my dad of how stupid I was to clean the coil and because of that, the coil was less effective when cooking something

How do Reavers clean their spears?

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

1. Take a shower
2. Finish up cleaning the coil

And how could a clean coil be less effective/efficient? It's oposite.

The only way the coil would be less effective is if it's connection to the electrical source weakened.

Either from drifting out of the socket a bit during cleaning, or because it was removed and then not fully inserted.

You should look for some articles on the internet regarding cleaning these coils, and show them to your parents.

Your mom is wrong. Normal people clean the elements on a stove at least once or twice a year. Generally, it isn't necessary unless you spill food directly onto the elements though.

Who cares if it's an unnecessary task? Is your life micromanaged that significantly that you don't have 20 minutes of free time in a week?

Furthermore, she's bitching that you're cleaning a stove instead of showering? #doboth? It's not like those tasks are mutually exclusive.

FYI unless you're like, under 10 years old and/or haven't hit puberty yet, you probably should shower every day - otherwise you probably smell pretty bad to others (Teenagers in particular, tend to get pretty bad body odor if they skip a shower) - you might not even notice the smell, but others surely will.

This does not mean you shouldn't clean the stove though.

Are your parents first gen immigrants?

Because no offense, but your mom literally doesn't know how a stove works.

Also, you clean the stovetop surfaces in addition to the coils, not just the coils

Yes I'd have to agree, the logic is missing on so many levels.

Different people like different levels of cleanliness.

I have an alternate theory:  AniJan is a stupid and neurotic kid.

Let's look at the history here.
He thought his parents were going poor.
He thought he'd die in a cross country road trip to his new home.
He thought the stove was poisoning his family.

Anyone remember his Pixar thread?  Yeah, if he didn't grow up to get a job at Pixar, his life would basically be OVER, Pixar or bust.

I gotta be honest, he sounds like a huge handful to parent and every thread of his is a new irrational panic episode.  Maybe his mother was just annoyed by him having yet another episode.

I totally agree. Don't forget the numerous threads on his food issues.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.
