WHEN ARE THE ASUS RAMPAGE x299 MOBOS COMING?

Just now, TahoeDust said:

Haha...too funny.  I sold mine a year ago for the same reasons as done12many2.  I spent the better part of 5 years of my free time wrenching on and tuning the LSx platform....mostly LS1 fbodys and ls1/ls2 gtos.  I was just in HPTuners looking over a tune I 7 years ago for my buddys LSx FD RX7 that is getting put back together in Colorado.

Oh HPTuners.  I could spend as much time tweaking that as I could messing with an new PC platform.

I thought ECMs were bad until I was introduced to TCMs.  I'd spend days on things like trying to learn how to adjust torque management so that the car wouldn't fall flat on it's face during shifts.  TCMs requesting timing pulls from the ECM during a shift somewhere around 11lbs of boost kinda took the fun out of it.  xD

According to the LTT forum, we're wrong here.

Which is funny, seeing as the company that runs this forum has done and bought things that are the exact opposite.

Somehow this forum has become enthusiasts and more about being a budget shopper.

...but everyone still loves the awesome overkill builds on the channel.

If I did not know any better....

Can someone explain to me why you cant buy x299 if you are rich? Just because it is overpriced?

I mean if you are rich, you dont even care about money isnt it?

Why people are flaming to those x299 owner?

I am planning to buy an R7 1700, not because i am very happy with the performance. It is because I got a limited budget, and I have to get the best out of it.

Give me $100k and you will see a x299 PC on my desk right away man.

For some reason people don't understand that better price to performance doesn't necessarily mean it's a better product.

Especially when the price/performance argument is only looking at synthetics trying to mimic certain work loads. But change the workload, and the narrative changes.

For me, and what I eventually want to do in video editing, Ryzen's only advantage is price. It handily loses price/performance to the 5820K, 6800K, and 7800K in AVX workloads. However, as a toy, Ryzen still looks attractive as a system to test shit on.

I work my ass off for the things I buy, never once have I bought the cheap option just because it was "almost as good" lol.  I buy what I want and what I think best suits my needs, regardless.

Mostly same. Asides for stopgaps, and even then, those stopgaps are more than I may need and will end up being a perfect fit elsewhere. My 1070 is doing just fine running Dolphin and rendering at 4K60. I still debate to myself if the Gaming Pro mainboard I have is a stocpgap for something that can easily accommodate 4GPUs without sacrifices elsewhere, or if I'll be happier slapping in a quad M.2 card x16 and saturating all mah lanes that way.

Takes the fun out of an octocore EPYC NAS with (near) exclusively NVMe storage, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make...for so long.

This guy gets it.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

Nail on the head bud.  Demographics of the LTT community.  Not saying that it's impossible to be young and have deeper pockets, but it's not as common.  A great deal of folks simply discredit things as a means of rationalizing circumstances.  There's no need.  Just get what you can.

Very truthful statement.

Rooting for the underdog is popular.  Always has been and always will be.  Especially in the LTT forums.

It's an easier pill to swallow when you also realize X299 is the best platform this generation.   It's not on the same level as gold plating your keyboard where it just adds cost (money dicking) without functionally making a difference.

Even if you want to gold plate your keyboard, i dont think it is a problem. You need money to buy costume.

I buy RGB stuff for my PC too. How much rgb? Just as much as I can afford.

If I had $1200 dollars to spare, I'd ditch this Ti in favor of the Xp. Not that it makes sense to most people, but it sure as hell does for me. Having the very best is important to me, if I can afford it at the time. Unfortunately, I have people to feed and bills to pay. xD

No not really, not for the price.

LOL, the guy who owns a MacBook an iPhone and an Apple Watch is talking about value.

Some people like Apple's Ecosystem so they buy Apple Products and some people prefer Intel's platform and superior performance, so they buy Intel products. It's kind of funny that you can justify buying Apple Products (because of Apple's Ecosystem) but you can't justify buying Intel CPUs (even though they offer better performance than the competition)

I would tell you that X299 performs much better than Ryzen and that most people who buy X299 CPUs know that price/performance is terrible, but @done12many2 and @Drak3 beat me to it :P

Don't mention that he/she is paying around double for a mainstream Intel CPU in an Apple machine... Ignorance is bliss.
