I dont think OP realized the SSD and RAM were so expensive is the issue here, considering he pointed out the 1060. Does that make it less of a rip off? Maybe. Tier 1 builders will always charge more. given fact

For a second I thought it looked like the back of a smartphone.

But that 4TB SSD kinda adds to the cost..

hey it has the most important feature ever :D  a CD Burner

but jokes aside, basically every prebuilt is overpriced or uses very cheap components.

And who the hell needs a 4TB SSD worth more than the rest of the hardware?

One prebuilt is a poor value proposition for casual gamers or use =/= all prebuilt PCs offer poor value propositions.

There was a recent Alienware Aurora Desktop that offered a i7 7700 (non-K), a GTX 1080, 16GB of DDR, and a 2TB HDD for $1100, which is actually very competitive compared to a DIY build of similar components. The deal has since gone cold, but you can view the details here

How about going to Dell website? Many pre-build computers on Amazon are overpriced.

Believe it or not, the XPS 8920 desktops on Dells website are not configurable and there is no way to get one with a 1060 - you either get a 1050 Ti or a 1070.

I'm actually not trying to spread my link, completely forgot I was an affiliate to be honest with you. I'm just saying putting all the cost of that pc into ram and ssd is a rip off since you would only be getting a 1060 with it. Just to make you happy I will remove the link.

The reason I call it a rip off is because putting so much money into the ram and ssd alone is not worth it if you only get a 1060 out of it. For that price it should have a 1080 or atleast a 1070.

You know that it isn't meant for gamers? Its aimed for solutions where using integrated GPU isn't feasible.

Yeah.  And you picked a computer that was built for a niche use case.  This build isn't even AVAILABLE on Dell's website.  It's a third party seller.

That's definitely a content creator's workstation first and foremost. A GTX 1060 vs Titan XP provide nearly identical H.264 encode performance except in edge scenarios. Granted with that price tag, why not pile on more CUDA cores? Going to a 1080, we're talking about ~15% increase in price for a 30-50% improvement in 3D rendering performance (e.g. Blender, Solidworks). Disclaimer: I primarily use Photoshop and Blender, so please correct me if I'm totally off the mark in regards to video encode performance or terminology.
