R7 1700 vs i7 7700 for Siemens NX10 CAD

I need a new PC for University. We use Siemens NX10 a lot and can't decide if 1700 or 7700. I wanna game on it a little bit as well. For graka I think of 1070. Appreciate your help :)

1700 is still very good for gaming, cores will help in CAD also, much better value for rendering than the 7700. 

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

1700 and a b350 board oc to 4ghz and it will kill the 7700 in everything including gaming

1700 is much better for CAD, the 7700K will still be good but no where near as good at the 1700, especially if your rendering, as the 1700 will be roughly 2 times as faster that the 7700K (it will be less than that but roughly that)

Not quite, i7 is still needed for 144hz at 1080p (Better IPC and clock speed, more important than multiple cores in games for now).

I have an i7 7700 and a R7 1800x, I can assure they are very similar, in fact I still like the i7 more as it is snappier, more responsive and over all feels faster on lighter applications and gaming however when you go for a multi-threaded applications like rendering on Sony Vegas the 1800x destroys it.

 

Both can game just fine, the i7 is just slightly superior.

as I said gaming is not so important, mostly for uni because there is not much time for gaming, and I have 3 more years to study

though i really have to say, university cad stuff is not that demanding as many people who are studying need to learn the basics first. I really would go with the 1700 though, as it looks more promising for the future.
