I've always hated on iPhones. But I've never owned one...

So I got one. It's an iPhone 5c. Not anything impressive, but it was free.

 

As I've been a fully android user, any suggestions to make iOS more enjoyable, aside from jail breaking it?

 

I'm already not used to the keyboard's lack of buttons...

I am an Android user, but my mom has an iPhone 5C. There isn't much other than getting Cydia and installing tweaks and stuff.

Maybe a 3rd party keyboard app that adds back the number row?

TBH, if you have a working Android phone I'd sell that 5C on eBay and go back to the phone masterrace (besides the 3310 OFC)

Jailbreak is nice. But do note that JB often releases way way later than the actual iOS update so that means future iOS update that people get on their shiny iPhone would be something JB users hold off. I had an iPhone 5s before. 

 

There are some cool Cydia tweaks to check. For personalization I like Zepplin and Customcarrier (the first changes usualy apple logo to another one of your choice, the scond changes carrier name to your choice e.g. Verizon to iamdarkyoshisucks)

 

There is also Alkaline which changes battery icon because default battery looks ugly

 

Barrel changes swipe animation between home screens

 

TapToUnlock lets you unlock your phone by tapping instead of swiping (also fully customizable)

 

There is also a program (forgot the name) that saves your iCloud password so you don't have to retype every time you download an app (wheter it's free or paid you still have to type out password)

 

Bridge lets you imprt mp3 files to default iPhone Music app

 

iFile is basically a file manager

 

Haven't used iPhone in a while so I might miss some stuff.

Yeah that too, you still need JB. All 3rd party app that you see in Appstore are useless and a POS. I had that before, it also adds an arrow key too (cmon it's an iphone 5 how much are they gonna cramp stuff in). And there's one that changes it blue lol. Who doesn't love blue keyboard.

Oh don't forget Activator. Let's you to open apps and stuff with phone buttons (so for example you can double tap home button to open Candy Crush Saga or volume up)

From personal experience, not that I ever had an iPhone but I did have an iPod Touch, ios can be more enjoyable as long as you JB it, but if you want to leave it fully "legit" then I suppose android's still better...

I had an iPod Touch 4th gen (Still have it, but it's missing some screws and a screen...), it was best when jailbroken, but even then kinda ehh..

If you jailbreak, get iAP for in-app purchases from Cydia (works in games that don't require network connection, so don't expect it to work on Clash of Clans or something).

 

Get the classic Apple logo Mario startup screen (Mario runs by, hits a block, and the classic Apple rainbow logo pops out!) or the Iron Man startup screen or whatever floats ur boat.

 

Keep in mind that jailbreak tweaks slow things down a LOT. Like a LOT.

Okay I don't plan on REPLACING my 450$ nexus 6p with an iphone 5c. But I just wanted to get to know iOS before getting rid of it...

I think as long as you don't expect to be doing a lot of tweaking it's a fine device.

As much as I hate them, I have to say I've had the best typing experience on the Apple keyboard. Even with my wide thumbs it had no problem getting exactly what I meant.

I'm in literally the same boat - got a 16GB lime green iPhone 5C from my boss's dad for a family member to use as their first phone for really simple stuff. Yeah an iPhone 5SE would definitely be better, but this was free, and still works rather well as a DJ music device with Spotify, Pyro, and Pacemaker installed.

 

Basically, I have around 3,333 Spotify songs saved for offline usage, and simply Bluetooth to my Bose SoundLink Mini at friends parties using Pyro if I want a lazy DJ experience, or Pacemaker if I want to get a little more interactive with some manual mixing and effects. Still use my Note 3 as my daily work/personal phone, but it's nice to have a secondary device to run specific apps on, since no device has an acceptable battery for my use-case.
