You do not need both to be plugged in, the extra 4 pins are for extreme overlocking

Your games freezing is a separate issue

What are your specs?

Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");

What is you System Specs please, if you don't mind.

Case.

PSU.

MOBO.

CPU.

RAM.

GPU.

OS.

As you may be ok to connect these cables on the Mobo if the PSU has these cables to connect to. Don't get confused on what cables these are as they can be confused with GPU cables, as they are wired differently.

This is great as if you are intending to do over clocking you will know the system is getting that additional power if it needs it or not, it's there. Tho this is up to you.

As for the games freezing randomly on you this could be a few different things.

Are your clocks stable if over clocking. Have you got the drivers updates.

Thermal limit hitting / temps ok ?. Could be many different things. Post a pic HW Monitor for us to look at.

Case: | TT Core x71 | Mobo: | Gigabyte Aorus Elite DDR4 | Cpu: 13600K | 1.300V | P-Core 5.6GHZ | E-Core 3.9GHZ | Cpu Block: EK Quantum Velocity2 | Ram: Team T-Force Vulcan Z 4x8GB 3200MHz DDR4 | Gpu: Gigabyte GTX G1 970 Bios Hacked 1.275V | Gpu Block: EK | Cooling: Custom Loop | Rads: 4 | PSU: Corsair RM 1000w
