What GPU did you guys owned?

yeah makes sense, was just wondering because you upgraded a lot in a very short period of time, then just stopped haha :)

I worked for the last 3 years of school before I went to college so I had a fair bit of disposable income and what wasn't spent on running my car was spent on my PC. I basically kept upgrading the PC until I got it to a point where I considered it finished, then the only thing I've upgraded since is storage. I haven't really felt any need to upgrade further due to rising prices and disappointing performance improvements. My system still does fine for what I use it for.

Build log link is in my signature. Because of how it's built, upgrading single components in the system is kind of difficult.

Nvidia GT 640

AMD Sapphire HD6570

And for my first gaming PC, Gigabyte GTX 950.

I'll probably be doing with this 950 for some time, still does the job.

It will, having "the newest GPU at every release" is just for people who buys hardware to buy hardware (I'm one of those, I prefer building and touching the new tech over gaming)... those who truly game on PC for the games, don't need to upgrade that much, you just wont be able to play at ultra in 4K in all the titles...

I really like the way you did your build log, and I regret not doing the same for my PC... especially since I'm constantly upgrading, there would always be new content...

Thanks, the system has been a work in progress for the most part of 5 years. It started out as a prebuilt and has gone through multiple motherboard, PSU, CPU Cooler, GPU and case changes. Only thing that hasn't been replaced is the CPU, which despite being from 2012 is still plenty powerful, kind of showing how bad CPU performance increases have been over the past few years.

AMD6950

AMD6970

AMD6970 Crossfire

GTX670

GTX770 (moved to media pc)

AMD290X (moved to another pc and sold)

GTX970 (sold)

GTX980TI (2 duds, gave up and returned for good)

GTX770 Sli (back from media pc)

Now there is something wrong with the fan bearings on the gpu; super loud. Looking at 1080ti or volta/vega as a possible upgrade.

A8-7600 (yes this is not a gpu, but I started with intergrated graphics, and the APU did use ram to help assist).

R7 370 <--- in a current FX build I gave to my younger brother

960m <--- I am currently using a laptop

Oh boy, this is going to make me look old:

Riva TNT2 (man that was such an AWESOME card back in the day, could play somne Quake III arena or Half-Life 1 like a mofo!)

Geforce 4 Ti 4200 (yes, from 2002, when the naming scheme was in its first iteration)

Ati Radeon 9800 Pro

Ati Radeon X1950XT

Ati Radeon 3650M

Geforce 750M

Geforce GTX 760

Geforce GTX 980

Geforce GTX 980TI

Its funny how the naming schemes keep looping around. Nvidia went all the way From Geforce 1 to 9, then started over with geforce 100 to 900 and now 10xx. I am wondering after the GTX 10 series whether Nvidia is going to go back to something else again, or keep using Geforce GTX 11xx.., 12xx, etc.

Ati / AMD's naming scheme makes even less sense.

Nice list! Aaah the Voodoo 2, was an AWESOME card back then! I remember it fondly. Friends of mine had it. The box art for those cards was great too, crazy voodoo magic cartoon characters.

Good to see someone at least older than me on here. Seeing all these kids who started out on a 560 TI or something makes me feel old. LOL

Im one of those kids, and I feel old when people says that the 900 series was their first... (My HD6770 is about 6 or 7 years old, which is old for a GPU)

LOL yeah I took a little break from gaming for a while. But I edited my post to include my laptop graphics. Had a Radeon 3650M in the meantime, which was not too bad at gaming actually.
