I dont even know what an A level exam. But if you cant afford it you cant afford it. Might have to save up some money and do it again. Might considering a little more studying.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Basically, he will have a 'great' time trying to find a job or go to uni/college as both somewhat require A-levels (C and above) as they are the baseline exam to move on the next stage.

Go and get a level 2/3 apprenticeship or a job.

A-Levels aren't for everyone. Unless you're going to get >3 Cs then there's literally no point doing them, should've done BTECs.

A levels and similar qualifications tend to be tough, sometimes nearly University level though depending on what you take.

I'm currently doing a level 3 apprenticeship, working for a small IT company, learning to develop software on the job while doing my units. Its perfect, I get paid a bit of money and at the end I get a level 3 Qualification so if I want to go to uni i can or take a level 4 apprenticeship or just continue working.

I would also recommend looking into Access courses, they are just 1 year not very expensive and a great way to get into Uni if that is your goal. But again if you continuously fail A levels maybe getting into the workplace will be better for you with an apprenticeship

I don't get this other side of the pond exam stuff and what is this level A exam thing?

Explain plox.

In the UK we start secondary school 2 years before Americans start High School and end 2 years earlier. Now what do we do in those 2 years between school and Uni you may ask! Good Question! Most commonly people do A levels. These are usally done at what we call a 6th Form College Which is different from schools in a few different ways. You pick all the subjects you want to do, usually 3 or 4 A levels. You don't wear a school uniform. And your timetable will have gaps in it and stuff. Unlike school which is 2 Classes break, 2 classes lunch, 2 classes home.

In your first year at 6th form college you will do your A1s in your chosen subjects and in your second year do A2s combining together you get an A Level! Depending on your A levels will depend on what kind of a Uni you can get into they are graded A*-A-B-C-D-E-F.

At the end of secondary school we do GCSEs which some we get to choose and some are mandatory (Maths, English, Science). Depending on how well one does in these depends on what A-Levels one can take.

  1. Is A levels mandatory?
  2. What happens if you don't take A levels?
  3. Can you still be accepted into a Uni or College?
  4. Is this some type of pre college course you have to take in order to know which college is best for you?
  5. How much is the fee, OP says $3,000, so that's just the exam itself or for the entire 2 year your in this 6th Form College?

Right here, It goes something like this

  • Elementary School: K-6 or K-5, depending on where your located, some students graduate in 5th grade, while others graduate a year later in 6th grade.
  • Junior High: 6-8 or 7-8. Those who graduated Elementary in 5th grade, they stay in Junior High a year longer, starting with 6th grade.
  • High School: 9-12. Graduating from High School requires the passing of some sort of exit exam. The exam covers your primary subject like Math, English, and Science. Advanced Level also passing of Global History, US History, and/or Foreign Language.
  • During High School, some have a program call College Now. This lets students who are from grade 11 or 12, take college like course for free. When students pass the class, they earn the same amount of credits for each course, as if they were in a real uni or college. Depending on if the Uni or College accepts those credits, then those students won't have to retake in course when they're actually in Uni or College they're attending. That's half a year saved on tuition and course you don't need to retake.
  • Now to get into a actual University or College, all students must take the SAT. which consist of Math and English. New ones is Math, English, and Writing. This requires a fee to take the exam. Most people take it 2-3 times. Then they take the highest scores, from each section of the test and combine it to give you the final score. Higher the score, obviously it's better, more University and College will accept you. Lower then you might not get into the college you want, but at least there are others will still accept you. There is also a Pre-SAT, this is a free test to show how well you might do in the real SAT, so you know which section needs improvement. Then its time to study on those sections on your own or pay to attend some college exam prep center.

Dude I am even more screwed than you so it might help you to calm down:

I am 30 years old and failed my economics study twice because I was busy to satisfy my addiction and didn't bother to learn. I am clean now.

I feel ashamed every single day and would prefer to hide under a bush my whole life. I battle with my thoughts to stay positive.

I soon hopefully taking a government loan and money from my sister/dad to try and study computer science because i am very interested in the subject. I will try really hard even tho it will be the most difficult thing I have ever done. I see this as a last chance to reverse my life into a successful direction.

I have not yet told my sister/dad that I failed the second time. There is always a way even if its hard.

if I succeed I am in debt ~40.000 € but that will be ok as long as I finish. I basically can kill myself i fail because my life is over then.

No A levels are not mandatory. Until only a few years ago you were allowed to quit education at 16 so did not have to do anything after school but now you have to stay in some form of education until i think 17. You can do an appreticeship during that time, or take a BTEC which is like taking one subject more indepth as it counts as equivilent to 3 A levels.

A levels are paid for by the goverment as a continuation of education. I think the OP had to pay because he had to re take them.

In the UK there is a goverment body called UCAS, most universitys will have a minimun amount of 'UCAS Points' required for entry. A levels are worth UCAS points but there are many other ways to aquire UCAS points and get entry into Unis.  Some top unis will require you to have A levels and will not accept BTECs for example.

Taking A-Levels doesn't nessarsily have anthing to do with deciding a university course, although if you took A levels you willl most likly need an A level in the subject you plan to take at college for them to accept you although not nessarsarily.
