Ok appointment was made today, which I was not made aware of. But problem, they have to run HFC underground, and unfortunately my conduit is too old, so its blocked. YAY civil works, the whole purpose of MTM was to NOT have civil works involved in installing nbn

lmao my house is from the early 70's, maybe earlier than that. It's probably "blocked" too lol

I have FTTH.  It's glorious.  The ONT box is in my garage, where it spits out a coax wire that plugs into my modem.

I have 50 down / 50 up, and that's honestly plenty, although they'd love to sell me 300 down / 300 up.

Ours is set up a little differently. With my type of rollout (pre-liberal MTM) our ONT allows up to 4 seperate internet services via the rj45 connector so its pretty much compatible with all routers and even direct into a pc ethernet port if you want.

We got the madd infrustucture but too bad the best residential plan is 100/100 but even then thats only offered by one provider... everyone else is gets 100/40 max like me!

Excuse double post but we have 200/200 plans through Skymesh yet again! wow.

I'm with Telstra though, a solid service during peak makes their price premium worth it!

And the whole purpose of mtm(Malcolm Turnbulls Mess) was to NOT have any civil works associated with fttp. However their policy changed for hfc instead they'll run the cable underground if there is no overhead wire. Previously they would install a pole where the lead-in would be on the floor/ground, and then you get a self install kit, basically you would take that line, and install yourself.

I.E drill a hole in the wall to slot the cable through, etc, etc

Sorry but first world problems. Rather be lucky that they even expanding fiberglass speed because this is hardly the case here in Germany.

Wow, when I lived in Aus there were plans with caps at like 70GB/month from Telstra. I can't believe they're up to 500GB/month now.

Now I'm limited to 300GB in the US on the worst provider, Comcast.

Ryzen 7 2700x | MSI B450 Tomahawk | GTX 780 Windforce | 16GB 3200
Dell 3007WFP | 2xDell 2001FP | Logitech G710 | Logitech G710 | Team Wolf Void Ray | Strafe RGB MX Silent
iPhone 8 Plus ZTE Axon 7 | iPad Air 2 | Nvidia Shield Tablet 32gig LTE | Lenovo W700DS

I feel this pain somewhat. I live less than 50meters from a fibre box, yet somehow I do not have fiber in my area (wtf lol), and they are not planning on giving me fibre till god knows when.

Bhahaha! I think we exported our low data caps to the US :P

And we imported unlimited data from the US

So an equal trade :P

So in conclusion, we exported our data caps to the US, and we imported unlimited data from the US, I'd say an equal trade. Don't you agree?

The moment you realise that Virgin Media has offered part fiber part coaxial (i.e. FTTN) internet in the UK for over 10 years or something now :P

We've had it for years in the form of the Foxtel/Telstra Cable/Optarse Cable network in some areas

Some people get 100/1, others get 30/1.

idk

It's more like 100/1, since I have friends on it. Except the extra cable that gives them Foxtel.. stops around 10 blocks down the street and to get it installed it's $550.

Fuckin' Optus

idk

Like I see people around me and their downloading steam games, or playing League or Dota, since well we get 2ms to the servers even at full load.

Or like me I download all the twitch vods so I can watch it at home
