Mine runs at 4.5Ghz at 1.25 volts.

Damn that's pretty good compared to mine. I'm running 4.37 GHz at 1.25V. Intel will have to lower their prices significantly if they want to stay in the market. The only problem I can see with AMD is they don't have anything to compete against the Pentium G4560 and the 6950X.

the very highest end, at least for now, will be consistently intel. I mean look at the xeon lineup. 

The low end I'm confident AMD will eventually release skus for. 

I'm really concerned about Intel's stranglehold on low power CPUs for laptops and even stuff like atoms that use just a few watts. I'm building an atom based router soon myself, motherboard with cpu embedded can be had for like 65 us or something.

I currently have a i5 3570k, that I've used for 4-5 years and am wanting to upgrade MB/CPU/Ram to a AMD Ryzen config, I am wanting to do this because I want to be on more current teir hardware, and really like that the am4 platform is said to be supported til 2020. I was wondering what Motherboard should I go with (likely a higher quality one that would support good yields from overclocking.) As well as what CPU should I be looking at getting for a decent upgrade to what I have now, I wanted to go cheap now on cpu (but still a decent upgrade, and then upgrade on a later installment of the am4 socket.)

that's what the highest end is. Actually some are a lot more than that. 

And I foresee intel shifting their pricing up the line, using some silicon that would otherwise be a xeon for enthusiast parts to compete with AMD soon.

I really Like that AMD got something new in their pocket. That means if they make more stuff like this Intel prices should drop a little bit, which will be nice.

I'm so happy about this. You can barely ever cap out a CPU during gaming so it makes a ton of sense to have a CPU that can also handle doing stuff in a background while i play, plus a CPU that is pretty gr8 in any situation.

And even in game only scenarios, more and more games are able to spread the load over multiple threads, so this one is way more future proof than a highly clocked one.
