  1. Hey guys. Im looking at my desktop (listed below) and my laptop (below) and i'm starting to wonder if there is any reason to not just use my laptop as my desktop. My laptop should be just as powerful if not more so than my desktop. I figure I can sell the CPU, Mobo, RAM, and case for $800-$900 and free up a lot of space. Is there any reason to not do this? The only real thing that has been holding me back up to this point is 1) I had 8-10 HDDs in my desktop, but this has now been moved to a NAS with dual parity drives. 2) I like my PCI expansion slots. But I really
  2. IT WORKED! Finally after like 2 hours of screwing with this I can play games at 100hz
  3. Ok, after actually reading the error I found a workaround. The error is that the file does not exist. The workaround was installing the take ownership hack from How-To Geek, navigating to C:\Program Files and using Take Ownership on WindowsApps (hidden folder), then navigating to the NVIDIA folder in the WindowsApps folder, then manually launching nvCplUI.exe. This does not fix the issue on the context menu, but it is a workaround.
  4. I installed the 2004 update and now the installer does not fail, but I still can't launch NVIDIA control panel
  5. Im currently on Windows 1903 not 2004, could that be an issue?
  6. Its a GTX 1070 so it should be DP 1.4 ready and upto the current standard, right?
  7. Hey guys, I just got the spectre 35" curved ultrawide 21:9 3440*1440 monitor (this one on amazon) and when I tried to open the NVIDIA control panel it wouldn't work. I used the NVIDIA experience thing to check that it was at 100hz, and surprise surprise it was only at 60hz. So trying to get it to 100hz I tried the wipe and reinstall option in the installer and it failed. So I tried DDU and reinstall, but it failed, however windows update installed it first, but that wouldn't let me open NVIDIA control panel either. So I disconnected from the internet DDUed a
  8. Wow, thanks for the wright up. That was more than I expected, and you mentioned more details than I thought to look for. Is that something that you wrote up yourself, or is there a user benchmarks esk site for keyboards? No huge surprise, I think i'll grab the Tai-How set for now, but i'm actually more interested in possibly picking up the GMK set in the future. I do have a few Cherry MX keyboards as I keep one in my bag with my laptop so I could have a set on each.
  9. Hey guys, I had one of my keystems break on my Ducky One TKL, so I tore it apart and replaced the Cherry MX Brown key, but now I have another issue. The old keystem is still stuck in the keycap and I cant get it out. So i'm looking at getting a new key cap set. I was looking on mechanicalkeyboards.com and I saw the 'Miami Keycap Set (GMK)' and from the photo it looks fkn beautiful, but that $190 is a bit too much for my budget. I was wondering if the actual keycaps have the incredible neon colours that are in the photo. I was also wondering how the look of the '104 Key PBT Dou
  10. Guess there is no reason to upgrade past gigabit right now unless I throw in an SSD for caching
  11. I just changed to the other parity calculation method and now I am running at ~600Mb. Not all the way back up. But hey, that's almost double the speed I was getting. Thanks
  12. I don't currently have a cache drive in the system Good to know I will look into that then I got it for features that those platforms do not use. Long term slow speed is not a problem, its just a bit annoying right now when i'm trying to move over 20+TB of files.
  13. Hey guys I just set up an UnRAID box with 12*3TB (2xparity and 10xdata) 7200 RPM SAS HDDs in a Dell MD1000 shelf connected to an HP DL360e Gen8 server. This server setup is linked to my desktop computer over gigabit home networking. Using TeraCopy when I first initialize a transfer I get about 920Mb rate for the first ~12GB, then it drops down to about 320Mb I know Windows has a lot of overhead on network transfers, but is this on par with what I should expect and is there a good way to optimise this? Thanks guys
  14. Hey guys, not a question or discussion here, just trying to post this on the internet for the next person that is looking. I recently went on a business trip with my Logitech G935 headset. I use THIS USB-C to USB-A adapter to plug the wireless adapter into my phone. Anyway, getting to the point I accidentally left the adapter in our rental car. No problem, I lost the adapter for my older Logitech G933s before and just bought a new adapter from logitech's site. HOWEVER Logitech does not sell the adapter for the G935s! I still had my Logitech G933 laying around so I tried to pair the
  15. Not really. I'm just curious about the potential of it happening without them being open about it. Doesn't seem like something they would do. At the same time I'm doubting Facebook just as much, their descriptions are never very good on anything.
  16. Hey guys. I really don't know what's going on hear (would love to hear an official response) but I was digging through Facebook and came across this page about advertising that seems to suggest that LMG has some how collected personal information and is using it for advertising purposes. this is just a random page on Facebook and like any other page there's no real details about what's going on, but the description is pretty suggestive.
  17. Honestly I thought everyone but myself knew what they were for. Also I just explained it in the comment right above yours.
  18. You only get 3 ft worth of desk space so the point of a LAN shelf is to free up more space by putting your desktop above your monitor. It also helps to prop your desktop up higher to show it off if you have cool water cooling or something.
  19. hey guys, I've been talking about this a lot in the Discord but I thought I'd share it on the form as a way to archive it to the internet. A number of months ago people started talking about LAN shelves. At the time I have no idea what they were but I started looking into them and thought it would be fun to bring one to LTX. A few weeks later I was thinking about it and realized that since my boss just bought a plasma cutter table I could make something really cool out of steel. A couple more weeks went by and I made up a blueprint to cut it out with. I then figured out I could fit two of them
  20. Hey guys. Back in 2016 I bought a G933 headset and I have really liked it. Recently I managed to break it when it got pinched between a table and my chair during university finals (dammit finals week). So it's time for me to buy another pair. I see that recently the new G935 came out and it is mostly the same. It has fo leather ear cups witch is nice as the ear cups do tend to soak up water, especially when I am biking around, but the G935 is $50 more than the G933. What else is new, and is it worth it?
  21. and that's why I'm wondering what the heck is going on. I haven't applied any overclocks or overvolts and I even went in and specified the exact voltage I wanted the system to run at (stock voltages) and I'm seeing this in hardware monitor. I called up Amazon support and they made me turn it back on so I figured I might as well get an image while it was on. I'm not 100% sure that all of those voltage lines are system Vcore but it kind of seems like they would be and it would explain the absurd temperatures. Unfortunately it looks like I'm just days out of being able to exchange it
  22. From what I could tell in hwmonitor previously it seemed as if the motherboard was trying to overvolt the CPU potentially as high as 1.9 volts (Even though I didn't have any overclocks applied). When I booted my computer up to get that photo my mouse wasn't working so I wasn't able to scroll around and double check.
  23. I have already attempted reseating the RAM and it didn't fix anything and I can say that even though the fan percentages are reported zero the fans were spinning at near max. I saw all of them moving and they were very loud.also triple checking to see if you cooler it is definitely all the way on there.
  24. Hey guys I'm having a lot of problems with my ASUS crosshair VII extreme AMD motherboard. When I first put my system together everything was working fine, then about a week later I took it to a LAN party and it worked fine there. Then when I brought it back home from the LAN party it kept crashing with blue screens with memory errors. I realized that it was trying to overclock the ram for some reason and enable DCIP (XMP equivalent) and that works fine for about 6 weeks until yesterday when I again got a BSOD RAM issue and it automatically reset the bios. I went in and set DCIP and booted into
