You don't make that much... If I were to run my 8350 and 7970 for a month straight, according to the Litecoin calculators online, I'd make an average of about $41.62.

Folding and Boinc aid in research and give you nothing in return.

Crypto-Currencies such as Bitcoin, and Litecoin are a global decentralized currency well worth looking into and learning about. The process of mining sustains the network and grants the miner a reward for solving blocks. Mining is extremely competitive and has become very lucrative for the people selling the hardware. Similar to a gold rush, the people who make the most in mining, are the ones selling the picks.

You can make "money" mining various Crypto-Currencies. Although, unless you already have the hardware available (as many 7950's as you can get for scypt based mining) You will most likely be better off purchasing coins directly taking part in the trading, speculation, and day to day use. You could also run various Crypto-Currency wallets to operate as a node securing, and passing along transactions to help out.

At this time, I wouldn't recommend purchasing mining hardware. Instead, if you're looking into upgrading your computer, consider high end AMD GPU's to get a basic start with mining.

If you post what hardware you have, we can somewhat estimate your potential earnings. Unless it's high end AMD GPU's, you will likely be spending more in electricity. You can check out some charts of hardware to see where you might stack up. https://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison Enter your estimated hash rate into a calculator https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.
