Linus should do another garage sale thing like he did in 2015

On August 21, 2015 there was a meet&greet at the LTT HQ that I (unfortunately) missed. I think Linus should do another one with things like $1 food and then donate all the profits to some charity or other. Obviously it's the middle of winter but come spring in April and May I think it would be a good idea, and a garage sale of junk parts or other things like the PCs from Junkyard Wars or something could also be sold and the profits would go to a charity.

They are busy, but would be cool to do one in the summer.

Doing something which would include food is bad idea to begin with. Since they are in business to make profit, they might need some licensing for food sales, even if it was charity auction/lottery style. And then it would need whole another licensing. Its different when its done by school or another organization where they aren't in business of making profit.

 

Selling stuff they got from junkyard is also something I don't think interest anyone. If it would, they would go directly to those centers (FreeGeek, was it?) where all the stuff already is. Selling stuff they don't need from their own warehouse, which was the idea of original, thats something what they could and most likely will do. @nicklmg (yes, my tagging is buggy) has hinted about having another fan meetup in future.

I would actually go to one if it happened, I'm in the US but I would drive just to show up. Idk, maybe the employees wives could make food or something. i'm just tossing ideas out. How big was the turnout in 2015?

How much stuff would they have anyway? They have transitioned more into reviewing more expensive high end gear from what I seen. I think maybe not only a meet and greet but also like a lan party of some sorts. Just a day or weekend to hang out with them.

If they wanted to do some kind of charity drive then they would be better off doing an auction for a top of the line system with the money going to charity. Given LTT's relationships with the industry they could probably get most of the components donated by the manufacturer's. Then put the finished product up for auction, the winner gets a trip to the LTT studio and gets to appear in the vid where they pick up their system.

 

Make it cost a 1 USD to place a bid (proceeds going to charity) and they could probably raise a good ten k plus while also making money off of the revenue from the vids.

I would haul my LGA771 Xeon machine all the way to Canada just for that.

I know they sold a Titan X for $200. I heard Berkel in an auction saying $200! Common people we accept cash we need this gone. While the crowd was just moaning as they had no money left

I would personally love to join something like this were there a chance,They should be able to do a nice video and everything out of it, I admit it's enjoyable even to watch it on youtube regardless if you went or not to it.

The point was that selling food isn't free money. Its zero loss, zero profit when you are paying for ingredients and not selling them for too high price. And not counting time you have used.
