Corsair CX750M just blew!

ThatFellaNick

So i came home and turned on my PC like normal and i heard an awful electricity sound and smelled that too familiar smell. The smell was very strong and when i turn on the power supply it buzzes.

WTF Corsair!

I plugged in an old power supply and thank god nothing else was damaged!

How the hell does this happen

Maybe it was the old-ish cyber power UPS? I only had it plugged into surge protection

Has this happed to anyone else?

:(

Sounds like what would happen if you plugged a PSU that could only operate on 220V AC switched to 115. I think the CX750M should automagically switch though and you live in Oklahoma so I doubt you plugged it into a 220V.

Perhaps you could just contact Corsair and get another one?

Well it shouldn't have moved on its own now, should it xD

I don't think you made a mistake, just RMA it.

Read your PMs lol

You really want a kinda good dead PSU?

Just look at your local Craigslist or Ebay, people sell everything.

I often see listing of retardeds who believed it was a good idea buying a PSU from the US since it is 10% cheaper (not including shipping, that would make it Cost a lot more than what it costs in Australia) than what you find in Australia only to find it was DOA and it costs way to much to ship it back.

:P

Antec Edge, High Current series, ECO Neo II

Corsair CX450M,  RMi / RMx / HXi

EVGA G2, GS, GQ, B2, G3, PS, P2

Anything from Seasonic or XFX (Excluding the XT)

Rosewill Photon, Quark, Capstone (not Capstone G)

Fractal Edison M, Integra M, Tesla R2 and R3

All the ones I listed are good, but the RMi/RMx, G2, G3, Seasonic X, Seasonic PRIME and Superflower Ledex Gold are some of the very best, if you have the money I would recommend you get one.

EVGA B2 750W is $55 after rebates, i'd get that so that you can go multi-gpu in the future.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

That is an ironic name. :P

I have not seen it (or any other bitfenix PSUs) at stores I casually browse at or PCPP, but I will keep that in mind.

I would recommend getting a RM or RMx series, I have used them both and have had absolutely no problems with them for high end builds (Currently a 6800k and 2x 1080's with RM1000x) without wasting more on a AXi or HXi when they aren't really any more reliable
