The 470 and 480 are fantastic products for the market segments they are in.

Vega won't be out until a while after Zen though.

I'll most likely be building my Zen machine, and running it with my (probably by then overclocked) RX 470 until Vega comes out and I buy a fancy new monitor to go with the new card.

FX wasn't enough of a jump in performance for me to upgrade from my Thuban at the time, but unless the things set the building on fire or explode 20 minutes from now, I'm not worried that Zen wouldn't be an upgrade for me.

Vega will follow quickly right after zen will be released.

So far:

Ryzen is at least 3.4 GHz base clock, 95 W TDP. 8 Cores, 16T. So far no price has been offered. Performance still needs to be optimized. In the demos below, it is run against a 6900K at retail, including the boost clock. Ryzen is at the base clock of 3.4 GHz without any boost.

Demos:

  • Blender:
    • Ryzen matches the 6900K
  • Handbrake
    • Ryzen: 54 seconds (+~10%)
    • 6900K 59 seconds (-~10%)
  • BF1, 4K, Maximum Settings
    • Both seem to have similar performance, but neither had an FPS counter. A bit fishy that they chose 4K, considering an FX-8 Core performs similarly to an i7 at that resolution.

I may update this later but I have a final tomorrow I for which I need to study. Gg guys

They're obviously saving the price for later, so it'll be more of a bombshell

Yeah, I'm assuming they'll unveil the price at the very end after showing all the demos.

They were talking how expensive 6900k was so we can expect it would cost less

Aaaarg, why always open source benchmarks? This is so manipulable (not implying they did)

A closed source benchmark from AMD would be far worse, at least with open we know what is possible. I don't trust a press event ever anyway, bring on the reviewers.

I don't think that they will announce a price until the actual launch event in Q1 2017

They did it intentionally. Note why they did not compare it with i7 6900k

A 6700k should still be more than capable to stream and play Dota 2.

the game was not lagging but the stream was, at the same settings as the other 2 systems it didn't have enough CPU power.

i'm not well versed in streaming , but it does seem like they are running at very intense settings ( the stream of course)
