Budget Gold Build -- Under $500 USD

It was more of an experimental build; it's still in planning. I might not even end up building it. It was mainly to see what I could do in that price range, and I wanted to see what people thought.

Well here's a real build anyways

That build is going to very quickly go from gold to ash grey if you get that PSU.

EVGA does some gold ones.

Save some money by going with a Pentium, there's no reason to go for any amount of performance at all with this build.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

@DeDra do you feel like spry painting your components?

I might consider [spray painting] in the future, although I'm not one to lean towards voiding warranties.

When you suggest ram without a heat spreader and there's one that's cheaper that has a heat spreader..

Idk if I could stare at my desktop with an obnoxious green stick staring at me o.O

Eh. Probably fine, rather just stick to a major brand though, like G.Skill/Kingston/Crucial ect

I was thinking Logisys and wrote Logitech in my post. Fixed. I don't think Logitech makes PSUs, but if they did, they'd almost certainly be better and safer than Logisys units.

Agreed, pretty wholeheatedly actually. A 550Ti isn't really capable of any games that are optimized for multi-core usage, and with used Haswell i3s pulling in $80-90 on eBay (sold one for $84 inc. shipping not too long ago), a G3258 is actually a pretty good bargain again.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Ya, until there's a plasma leak and you need to eject the warp core
