Going to put three of them in your system, :lol:

Nah, this card is going into my buddy's system. Although I am super impressed with it.

On a separate note, why do all the aftermarket 1080's have to be so ugly (and out of stock)?

Have you done the normal driver tweaks in the Nvidia control panel?

Hopefully I can squeeze some more out of this on my Windows 7 install.

What tweak?

I just updates drivers to latest version.

Should I do something else?

In the first post in this thread there are a list of driver tweaks to do in the Nvidia control panel. Basically you are forcing settings for the Valley.exe application through the Nvidia control panel. Doing those will help your score a decent amount.

Um...  YEAH!!  You need to go into the Nvidia Control Panel / Manage 3D settings / Program Settings and make adjustments.  Most of the stuff is outlined in the original thread post.

Oooh wow ... I guess I can expect better results than 4000 with GTX 1070 xD

Will try that, after folding is complete :)

@Jumper118

@Masada02

@done12many2

Thanks for great advices guys.

I did all that was mentioned in original post, and force stopped every single thing running in background.

Even used RAM disk to put valley on RAM.

Aaaaand I got almost 20% better performance. I mean wtf? Few tweaks help that much?

I did increase core by a little and memory by much, but didn't expect so much increase.

Here is my result:

benchmark17.png

0,7fps less than @Masada02.

I did run it many times and try to tweak even more just to beat that guy but I'm not that lucky xD

At +245 on core, card will crash.

I did manage to get memory on +850 working, but there was tearing and less performance.

Tried to go down 10 by 10 and still didn't beat his score xD

well I sometimes run out of 16gb ram, so there are tons of apps in background.

but I didn't think that would make such a difference lol those are just usig some ram ...

Well it's not best GTX 1070 score sadly. But 2nd place isn't that bad either. Once binned cards come out, I will drop on our forum ranking by a lot I guess.

Your CPU speed is what is holding you back at 1080p. Set your power state to maximum performance and OC it farther than your everyday setup if you haven't already.

You should see a sizable immediate increase with the power states and just as potentially even more if with an OC.

When running stress testing on the 5960x/5930k, what is max you are willing to go on temperature?

I'm coming to the conclusion my chip is a 4.5ghz max chip. But one core can hit 100c during aida64.

I'm going to reapply better thermal paste tomorrow and see if it gets any better.

The max I am willing to see is 88C (1C less than TJmax of 89C). Having said that, I do not stress test my CPU for Valley runs because Valley barely loads the CPU, thus you can push higher frequencies without worrying about crashing. For example, I've completed Valley runs at 5ghz, but the fastest speed I've passed Cinebench has been 4.8ghz.

Looking forward to the results bud.  As far as Valley is concerned, single cards are the way to go with Pascal.  SLI scaling is just garbage with Valley so I'm going to focus on single card when I get back around to it.  I hope the FTW shows improvements, but I think all 1080s are going to end up right around the same max overclock with the right cooling regardless of power improvements.  Hopefully you prove that wrong.

I'm in the middle of a huge family video conversion project right now, so I haven't been doing much in the way of benchmarking.  I found a ton of 8mm tapes that I never converted.

Ya, I'm not sure I'm going to buy multiple 1080's anyway. I will most likely just have this 1080 until the bigger cards arrive then we'll see what looks good then.

Mainly just wanted the FTW for the improved cooling. I don't expect it to OC more than what the FE's do, but since those don't run fanless I refuse to buy them. Open air case + blower coolers just doesn't work for me.

No worries man, it's gonna take some time for me to get around to really pushing the setup. I'll definitely do some preliminary stuff later this week though.

I'm still surprised how friggin difficult it is to get 1080's. I was lucky enough to grab one of the FTW's on Newegg in the only 5 minutes it's been in stock in the last 2 weeks.

He need someone to get better score, so he can beat you once again :P

Will you be buying classified when it comes out?

And check first post in this thread for infos, how to increase your score.

I got 4800 score with GTX 1070, that's why it's weird to see 4100 score with better card xD

Hi guys!  How do you think my 970 fairs? :P still trying to find out how high I can get the memory clock, it was +375 /3881 and core was 1496 in the benchmarks

GPU: GTX 970

CPU: I5-4690k @4.4Ghz

FPS: 63.9

Score: 2672

Maybe going to get another 970 if I can find one cheap somewhere (shouldnt be too hard) or at some point a 1060 when its released.

Winning an argument with a woman step by step

step one - talk to her

step two - fight with her for 2 hours even if you are really right

step three - admit that she is right for the sake of your safety

step four - realize that you have accomplished nothing and she still thinks you were wrong and now she thinks you are even more stupid
