lol ive never done 980ti sli runs even tho ive had 4 980ti's , each plagued with component failures , i honestly dont know how well it'll work.

Well the 2 top 1080p scores are still done with 980ti's so they should do pretty well if you push them.

hmm ok , this current card is a 1500mhz air (gpu boosting it there so it fluctuates a bit) card , and the second one i get is 2 serial numbers off this one. so i hope its as good at oc as this one :P

For Valley, you're going to need to crank that 4790k of yours wide open.  I mean like 4.9 or 5.0 if you can hit it.  Valley mixed with some 980 Tis or 1080s in SLI demands high CPU clock speed in order to run high scores.

my 4790k is so badly degraded from doing 4.9ghz runs at 1.4v , it struggles man i had to back it down to my summer oc to make it stable :/ dont have enough cooling capacity with this corsair 240mm aio

Yeah, heat will definitely speed the process, but what makes you think it's degraded?

bios reset voltage to auto and it got hit at 1.6v for 2 min of 100% usuage at 5.0ghz  at tj max 100c lol

So will it hold 4.9 at 1.4 or a little over that still?  It takes a lot to degrade a chip.  Obviously, if you're room temp in the summer is warmer you'll want to factor that in, but it may not be "degraded" as much as you think.

well it used to be stable at 4.8ghz with 1.2v but now takes 1.3v to be stable and its just too hot

Was looking into that upgrade also, but X99 motherboard price is a bit uncomfortable xD

If you start heading in the direction of the 6850k, consider getting a used 5960x instead if prices come down enough in the used market.

ill keep an eye out. but from what i see rn the 5860x is still going to be around 1000$ canadian and i dont wana dump that on a cpu alone. i still need ddr4 and a good mobo and a case and new cooling solution and psu ect lol it adds up :/ gotta save some more

Well DDR4 rams are kinda cheap :)

And when you say good motherboard ... well to me it seems like that any X99 motherboard is great, since they all cost over 200€ here lol

I would get X99S Krait just because it looks cool :P

i thinkin of the x99s msi sli plus , and doing a black and purple theme this time , i know the ram is pretty cheap. probably get a 32gb kit maybe with some leds on the ram since i find im using most of my 16gb kit rn lol

you cant run 3400 or 3600mhz on X99, tried on RVE and SOC Champion.

 

3200 is best, allows 100 bclk. no silly dividers

yes you can, they were running 128gb kits at that speed at computex on the gskill booth
