Unigine Valley Benchmark Scores Thread + SUPERPOSITION ***Over 1000 Submissions!***

Jumper118

Bought a 780 Lightning with Hynix off reddit, (Hynix is the good ones for 780 Lightning, most of them had Elpida that didn't OC for shit)

it shows up monday, I'll do some unigine with it and see if I can get fastest 780 on there. Should be fairly easy I hope.

CPU - 6950x @ 4.6 GHz
GPU(s) - EVGA GTX 1080 SLI @ 2100 MHz GPU / 11,729 Mem
Average FPS - (1080 = 179.6) (1440 = 140.9) (2160 = 67.5)
Score - (1080 = 7516) (1440 = 5897) (2160 = 2823)

So learning experience here.  Don't take on too much new stuff at one time!

The 1080s are crippled in Unigine Valley for some reason and even worse in SLI.  Every other benchmark shows a pretty insane increase over my previous 980 Ti SLI, but not Valley.  Valley actually dropped a couple of hundred points in 1080p.  I have no idea how much lower it is in 1440p or 2160p because I never ran them until @Masada02 came up with the new average FPS leader-board, which is cool by the way.  At this point, I'm sure that it's driver related, but only time will tell.  Oh well, what can you do?  Still seems like a competitive setup.  :D

I'll continue to work on it, but until then, I just wanted to get in on this average FPS leader-board.

I was hoping to see over 8000 score :P

Did you also try to do it with only 1 card?

Why did you disable 6 cores of that CPU lol. You paid almost 2000$ for it, and disabled 60% cores xD

35-40°C are temps on your GPU at full load :o ?

Any idea about VRM temps?

I always drop cores when running benchmarks that don't use many cores.  It keeps temps lower, which I later discovered was not an issue with the 6950x.  It also lets me clock the best cores higher if needed.  I didn't push them in this case because even running them at 4.7 GHz didn't change the results.  Trust me, I use all of the cores when I run FireStrike or Cinebench.  :D

Temps are solid for sure.  They only go as high as 40c every now and then.  I have no idea what the VRM temps are.

I'm still undecided on the 6950x.  It's definitely stronger than my 5960x, but for what I do the 5960x seemed pretty killer.  I'll mess with it for a few more days before deciding on whether or not I'll keep it.

Interesting results. Still enough to be #1 average.

At least now we have some 1080's on the board for a couple users :D

Thanks bud and fellow Commodore enthusiast.  :D

They're talking about the same 1080/Valley issue over on overclock.net as well.  Nobody's sure what's up so I'm just going to assume it's driver related.

That would be my guess. Even having seen that the reference 1080 isn't too much faster than crazy 980ti overclocks I still expect it to be a decent amount faster than the 980ti. Hopefully Nvidia can get those issues ironed out so we can see it's true potential.

Might have something to do with the new color compression.  I think I saw them say something about another iteration of color compression, most likely Valley doesn't support it, thus the loss in performance? Who knows

Initial testing of Lightning 780, I have to find that tutorial on how to fix 1.3v+, my Afterburner allows it (Afterburner extreme) but windows / the nvidia driver doesn't seem to enjoy it.

1.287v from DMM under load gets me 1332 mhz on the core.  Haven't tried higher memory speed, but +550 was just a quick type in and test.

I put CLU on the die btw, my room is like 18-20c and I'm getting 24c load temps because of the CLU, lol!

pjWiY.png

PS my cables look like shit and there's dust everywhere :(

The cables were trained perfectly for my matrix, but the 780 has it's power connectors the other way around, so I had to bend them around to get em to plug in, and since they're all stiff, they don't want to cooperate.

CPU: i7 6700k @ 5 Ghz core & Cache
GPU: 780 Lightning @ 1345 core, 1915 mem at ~1.35 VGPU
Average FPS: 85.5
Score: 3578
Screenshot of valley, GPU-Z and CPU-Z

I'm having weird issues with higher volts & core clock staying still.. Fluctuation in core clock when I go past ~1.35v, I don't know why.

There are times when I want to move my office down into the basement because of this.  It's 18c to 19c down there all year long.

It won't be for long unless it's well ventilated. Basements tend to hold in heat really well.

2560x1440. I just updated my post to show that score as well. I think I can push these cards a bit further yet.. should be able to break 7000 on the 1080 score no problem.

Should be able to easily. If you are comfortable with more voltage, that CPU could probably hit 5.0. Running the bench on Windows 7 also boosts scores too, if you have access to it of course.

Also, run 4k so we can put you on the Average FPS board. :D

Well, the CPU temps are only a few degrees over ambient when at full load so I'm not too worried about upping the volts. I still don't think I can get it to 5ghz and complete Valley without a BSOD. I haven't tried though!

I have to run 1.55v in my 5960X to get to 4.95 (even then it is highly unstable), I have a feeling you could achieve 5 with that CPU. Seems like a good one.

It was binned at 4.8Ghz from Silicon Lottery. On air I couldn't get it above 4.8. Once I got the water going I could hit 4.9 pretty easily. It really didn't occur to me to even try for 5 until your post. I'll try it, why not!
