Edge continues to dominate battery life - Firefox now is the worst. Chrome is second worst.

I would continue to use Edge if it still weren't so buggy. The forum doesn't like it, some webpages just don't load properly, and a lot of times my extensions (though I'm glad I have them) just run off for no reason and take forever to get working again. Basically forced me to switch back to Chrome since it's so polished (a polished turd but whatever).

Yeah MS says don't use IE yet 5% of people do. That means they do banking and secure things with it while it has HUGE security holes. Edge is also meh

yea firefox is quite bad with stuff like that, tried switching to firefox on my multimedia pc but it just sucked, leaving windows open for too long made them crash etc so now i only use it on my gaming rig and phone since those dont require heavy browser tasks.

I was commenting on how Edge offers better performance (as it relates to video quality) over Chrome. Basically streaming services are performing worse on Chrome compared to Edge while Edge is streaming at a higher quality for some services. Looking back it doesn't matter for most people on here who have higher end hardware, but for those who don't Edge is the superior browser choice for streaming video.

Ok there we go. But I would counter with IE also can stream 1080p Netflix so is ie also better at video streaming than chrome?

I haven't used IE in a long time so I can't comment and all of the videos and threads I've seen are for Edge vs Chrome.

Other codecs could have been used, that would support all web browsers. But Google decided to make it Chrome exclusive, creating a nice delay for other web browser to be able to support it. Let alone, once again, they could provide support through Flash.

Still not seeing how battery life is better under Edge. Even on this laptop (Phenom II N970, 4GB DDR3 1333, 7500RPM 500GB HDD) it uses the CPU+memory more heavily than Firefox-just like it did on my newer Asus U38N.

Isn't that the same for Chrome though?

480p works fine for me now but I remember it not being an option in the early days. From what I can remember, it was because Firefox didn't support DASH. Again, can't blame Google for Mozilla not supporting free and open standards.

Waited on Mozilla? Mozilla had been working on implementing MSE for about 2 years by the time YouTube launched 60 fps video. At some point you have to go "OK let's just launch this even though Mozilla isn't quite ready".

IIRC it was an issue exclusive to firefox in the early days of 60fps youtube, and it only happened when you forced mse and h.264 by going in about:config, on chrome you had all resolution options
