Drink some prune juice or eat some plums. They contain a high amount of sorbitol , which is a laxative.

Sugar free chewing gum (wrigley mostly) uses sweeteners with laxative effects (hence why the warnings on their products) .. Chew a whole pack (10 sticks of gum) and you'll probably feel like going to the toilet.

Also lots of cheap carbonated drinks use aspartame which is another sweetener with laxative properties.

Or just get over your shame and go to the closest pharmacy and ask for some pills to get your ass going.

And if you want the mother of all laxatives (seriously, you shouldn't buy these even for your enemies), have a bag of sugar free haribo bears ... just read the reviews : https://www.amazon.com/Haribo-Sugar-Free-Gummy-Bears/dp/B008JELLCA/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

The 5lb bag is unavailable, but you can still find them in smaller bags.

Are you getting enough fiber? Or even more broadly: What does your diet consist of? Are you eating a lot of dairy or meat? Try eating some fruits and vegetables like prunes as suggested above.

Are you staying hydrated enough? Drink plenty of water and even try some coffee. The caffeine picks up your metabolism and IDK about most, but it usually makes me go to the bathroom faster than if I hadn't had it.

You mustn't strain whatever you do. Straining will lead to hemorrhoids which will lead to you bleeding like a fire hose and that will lead to abscesses, fistulas, operations and a generally miserable life. Constipation on its own is a dangerous condition as it will invariably lead to diverticulosis i.e. your bowel will look like swiss cheese.

I am suffering such effects from a lifetime of constipation due to slow bowel motility. I have had three ops so far and am now looking at a fourth. The only thing that has enabled me to reach an acceptable routine and quality of life is Movicol x3 a day. Unlike laxatives this does not cause reliance and adaption in the bowel as it simply binds to water.

You should adjust your diet and increase your water intake (yes just water or pure fruit juices) and if that does not work seek immediate investigation as to the cause.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

There are other factors that will affect your guts such as sleep and meal times. I keep a strict routine that I try very hard never to deviate from:

  1. I go to sleep at 10:30pm every night, this ensures that I get a stable 8 hours sleep.
  2. I will wake up at ~ 6:15am
  3. I eat breakfast
  4. I take my morning Movicol cocktail x1 sachet
  5. I will then take a shit which usually begins at 6:45am and ends at 7:15am
  6. I will then take a bath 7:15am to 8:00am
  7. After my bath I am ready for another shit which lasts from 8:00am to 8:15am
  8. I am then ready to start the day
  9. I eat a snack at ~11am
  10. I will eat lunch at 1:00pm
  11. I eat dinner at ~7:00pm
  12. I take another cocktail of Movicol x2 sachets at 7:30pm
  13. I have other drugs which I take before sleep ~10:15pm
  14. The cycle completes and then begins again the next day

I always ensure that I am drinking evenly throughout the whole day. My target volume to consume in water is ~2 litres but often I will intentionally exceed this. I do not much on food between meal times as all this accomplishes is filling ones bowels for the sake of it needlessly. If I violate even one of these steps then my guts will be affected, the very worst results come from a disturbed sleep pattern followed by not drinking the target quota.

While this may seem harsh it is essentially what keeps me alive and therefore around for my children. I am fortunate to have a very understanding spouse...

What I would say though is that any change to your bowel habits should be treated seriously. Changes can be an advanced sign of a serious underlying/emergent issue.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

There's something that is interesting. It's important to note that foods high in carbohydrates are less easily absorbed by the body and result in more of it coming out the other end.

By eating a significantly less amount of carbs that would make sense as a contributing factor to you not having to go as much because you're eating foods the body is able to get more of the nutrients out of.

Not saying that's the end of discussion, but it's something to keep in mind.

When I get hard poo I eat prunes and I drink crap tonnes of Water. In more sever cases you can buy about $25 worth of Taco Bell or get a Crave Case at White Castle. They dont call them sliders for no reason. LOL.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
