try changing the CAS#Latency in the bios to 10 first leaving the others on 11. if that works try the RAS#Precharge to 10 as well.  

also what are the xmp timings of your ram?

will do and xmp are 9-9-9-24 the ram i got it g.skill ripsaw x 1600

ok that seems pretty standard for 1600mhz ram. gskill is usually good for overclock and holds fairly tight timings. you should get a 5-10cb boost if you can get those timings down.

when did you get the Pentium? you should give overclocking it a go even on the stock heatsink. you should be able to get a decent oc out of it. maybe upto 1.15-1.25v depending on how good the tim is.

Well, it's a Surface Pro 2 so I don't really have any room for overclocking but XTU has some nice options for things like voltage and turbo boost, though I know my single threaded can be higher, single core loads should push that core up to 2.6 but it's struggling to hit 2.5

lol it might be thermally limited in such a small device. have you tried going outside with it so that the air is cooler. or run cinebench with it in the freezer be careful of condensation though.

are you on the latest bios? the gigabyte bioses seem to be ok for me on my soc force.

That was my plan next, though the core under load isn't going near 70c so it shouldn't be throttling it, and XTU isn't reporting any throttling. When I get home I'll have my room cold for testing, and I'll also bench my main desktop to try for the bottom of the GPU leaderboards

You need to update the UEFI. Both the Gigabytes and the ASUS I've used required a UEFI update from the first release to overclock.

will give it a try and this will be the 1st time i be changing the timings,

should i change the cycle time aswell

Fastest 3570K on the 2003 document. 6cb to match @Jumper118 with his 3770K. 4.9GHz did indeed need 1.53V to boot and hold stability.

just done timing @ 10,10,10,28 got a score of 619cb with windows classic, then redone without classic got a score of 623, going to see if i can get them lower and should i try putting the 28 to 26

just change one thing at a time. that way you know what doesn't and doesn't work. you might want to write the settings that you are using on a notepad, so that you can keep track of what does and doesn't work. also you might need to clear your bios if it doesn't post so remember your cpu and other settings as well.

well ht must work on pentium 4's so maybe it does support ht on 4+ cores.

So, uh, my main desktop takes the lowest multi-threaded and single threaded scores, and only scores 24fps because of CPU bottlenecks. And this thing is my main PC, which is scary how slow it actually is.

(That Athlon 64 in there is single core, shouldn't be in the multi-threaded section imo.)

 

And I can't test my slow GPUs, can't allocate 512MB RAM to either of them so I'll do 2003 tomorrow instead
